Stone in interiors and kitchens continues to fascinate. Whether it is the luxury of marble or the robust look of natural stone: its appeal is undiminished. But nowadays, both clients and designers are asking for more. Aesthetics alone are not enough - materials must also be durable, preferably circular, and practical to use. Dekker Zevenhuizen offers a striking answer to this with Greengridz and the new generation of TopLaminate marble and stone looks.
TopLaminate Cupid and Dreamy White are telling examples of this. Visually barely distinguishable from real marble or onyx, but executed in a fully circular alternative. The decors are realistic to the pore, and at the same time offer all the advantages of a modern, low-maintenance surface. Greengridz provides the backing for this: a lightweight furniture panel that, with its patented grid structure, uses up to 60% less raw material than conventional board materials.
"For us, it's actually all very simple," says Ben van Elk, product and marketing director at Dekker Zevenhuizen. "After all, you don't have to make any concessions on appearance or quality when you choose Greengridz®. That makes it a serious alternative to traditional material use for architects."
Architects know: a material only really convinces when you experience it to scale. A sample of 10 by 10 centimeters simply does not do justice to the impact of a pronounced marble drawing in a kitchen worktop of three meters. To make that difference visible, Dekker Zevenhuizen developed the ColourXperience platform: a digital tool that allows designers to see at large scale what a surface really does visually. "You have to be able to feel a design, almost literally," says Ben. "With ColourXperience, architects can see exactly what a material looks like in the big picture. That gives much more control over the end result." The platform offers high-resolution views of all available decors, including Cupid and Dreamy White. In addition, it is possible to compare colors, view materials at the detail level and request technical information directly.
The marble looks presented by Dekker Zevenhuizen are more than aesthetic reproductions. They represent a new generation of material thinking, combining appearance and function with circularity. "We show that sustainability doesn't look like a compromise," Ben says confidently. "On the contrary - it feels like real marble, it looks like real marble, but it's lighter, stronger and much more responsibly produced." The panel is biodegradable, made from wood from responsibly managed forests, and meets strict emissions standards. For architects, this means maximum design freedom without compromising on principles.
It is often the aesthetic qualities that determine whether a material finds its way into practice. By investing in hyper-realistic decors on a durable backing, Dekker Zevenhuizen makes circular design attractive - and, above all, applicable. "Architects and kitchen designers don't want to compromise between beauty and responsibility," Ben concludes. "With Greengridz® they can fulfill both requirements. And that is precisely what makes the difference in this day and age."
