Lighting is crucial in traffic areas such as stairwells, corridors, and entrances, both for comfort and safety. However, architects and installers often struggle to combine design, light quality, and emergency lighting. Now there is a solution available: in the new O-Lux fixture, Famostar brings all these requirements together in one well-thought-out design.
“The demand came directly from the market,” says Roderik Verbeek, account manager at Famostar. “Installers and consultants want to integrate emergency lighting into their regular lighting plans. Until now, they had to do both. That was double the work and often led to compromises. With the O-Lux, that's no longer necessary.”

The O-Lux has been developed to function as both full-fledged emergency lighting and regular lighting. The fixture is equipped with smart technology that automatically recognizes whether it is mounted horizontally, vertically, or on the ceiling. Thanks to the lens rotator, the light pattern can easily be adjusted to the correct position, ensuring that the escape route is always properly lit.
The full-fledged emergency lighting optics (or comparable) make it possible to project a complete escape route in accordance with Bbl, the Working Conditions Act, and NEN-EN 1838, with a minimum of one lux over the entire route. “Everything that was on the market offered either good lighting or emergency lighting,” says Verbeek. “The O-Lux does both fully. And that's new.”
Thanks to Glare Protect technology, the O-Lux does not cause glare despite its high lumen output, even in narrow stairwells or corridors. The light distribution adapts to the mounting position, ensuring that the light pattern remains optimal and nuisance is kept to a minimum.
Sustainability has also been taken into account: the luminaire is manufactured and assembled entirely in the Netherlands, with a housing made of bio-circular polycarbonate, a high-quality alternative that does not contain any fossil raw materials. Thanks to its aesthetic housing, the luminaire also blends in well with its surroundings. With an efficiency of approximately 140 lumens per watt, the O-Lux is also one of the most energy-efficient fixtures in its class.
For installers, the O-Lux greatly simplifies things. A single type of fixture is sufficient for both wall and ceiling mounting, with or without emergency lighting. Project budgets become clearer and installation errors are virtually eliminated. “We are originally an emergency lighting specialist,” concludes Verbeek. “The O-Lux is our step towards making emergency lighting part of the overall design.”
