High commitment to quality
Following increasing demand from architects and clients, Kömmerling Nederland has brought the AcrylColor color system back into its product range. "The AcrylColor color system provides profiles with a co-extruded color layer. This allows us, in combination with the well-known proCoverTec and decor film systems, to answer any color request from now on," says Remco van Overdijk, account manager at Kömmerling Nederland. "This gives the architect the freedom to design any style."
The AcrylColor color system is experiencing its comeback in the new construction of residential building Alex in Rotterdam, carried out by construction company Stebru in close collaboration with window frame supplier De Jong Rutten.
De Jong Rutten is a total supplier of facade elements for renovation and new construction projects. "We focus particularly on project-based housing construction," explains director Marcel van Montfort. "From ground-level homes to high-rise projects and spread throughout the Netherlands."
De Jong Rutten has been part of the Hanssen Group, a second-generation family business with about 150 employees, since the 1990s. "Since then, we have continued to specialize and professionalize. We produce the plastic window frames from Kömmerling profiles in our own factory Hanssen Kozijnen in Panningen, where we have 8,500 m2 of production area at our disposal. In addition, we have one of the most modern production lines in Europe. By focusing on digitalization and automation, efficiency and quality will continue to be united in the future." The frame factory operates 100% gasless, energy and CO2 neutral.
"As an organization, we are highly committed to quality," Van Montfort emphasizes. "For example, in view of the Building Quality Assurance Act. Both our products and assembly methods are KOMO-certified. In addition, we have ISO certification and numerous sustainable initiatives are taken. For example, we have entered into a partnership with Kömmerling Netherlands, where our plastic materials are 100% processed in a circular way. We purchase K-VISION Cube, Classic, Trend and City profiles from Kömmerling Nederland, which takes back our remnants and sawing waste and carefully processes them into new window frame profiles. In addition, we also neatly return the end-of-life window frames we remove from our renovation projects. An approach we also take for our steel and glass, for example, which means that no more valuable materials end up in landfills."
The cooperation between De Jong Rutten and Kömmerling Nederland goes back to 1988, Van Montfort says. "For 35 years we have been putting our efforts together on quality and performance. But also on a good market approach and marketing, for example with regard to sustainability. Our joint approach has already led to beautiful developments, such as the Cube profile series, which is aesthetically indistinguishable from wood. But also to a circular program in which end-of-life window frames are given a sustainable second life."
Van Overdijk: "Whereas architects and clients used to focus on appearance, size and color, we now see that circularity, reuse of residual materials and CO2 footprint are leading. Together with partners such as De Jong Rutten, we are leading the way. Among other things, by using materials more efficiently and by researching alternative raw materials, our environmental impact is constantly being reduced. We reuse or recycle old plastic window frames, sawing waste and residues in equal measure. In addition, granulate losses during our production are minimized. An increasing proportion of recycled PVC is used in our window frames, frame profiles and transoms, and no plastic fiber is thrown away or downgraded. A true 'closed loop' in other words."
In addition to development, market approach and marketing, De Jong Rutten and Kömmerling Nederland also act jointly in projects. A good example is the new construction of the Alex residential building. At Jaap van der Hoekplaats in Rotterdam, Stebru developed and built 109 apartments, in which every age group will experience maximum living enjoyment. In the apartments, De Jong Rutten is installing a total of 460 plastic window frames, based on the K-VISION Trend profile with angled corner connection. According to the architect's wishes, the window frames will be finished in three unique Kömmerling AcrylColor color finishes. In addition to a bronze tone, a pearl white tone and a gold tone were chosen, says Van Overdijk, which were custom developed for this project. Not only Van Overdijk, but also Van Montfort is extremely pleased that the AcrylColor color system is back on the scene. "Thanks to the color-
system, we can offer an even wider range of surface treatments and color schemes to our customers. This allows us to answer any market demand."
