More than protection from the elements

In 2022, Frager introduced a revolutionary new system for facade cladding. Thanks to the patented magnetic Frager Facade, it is now possible to apply facade cladding without gluing. However, the company is not standing still and is already coming up with another improvement to the Frager Facade system. 

"Since the development of Frager Facade, we continue to discover new possibilities," says general manager Franck De Munster. "The system was created to fulfill a customer's need and that's how we continue to work. We are working on a few new developments that add additional value to this."

Contemporary design and magnetic assembly

Back to basics for a moment. To manufacture Frager Facade, Frager uses the patented, magnetic Magnetude system. This allows aluminum panels to be magnetically mounted on a facade profile. Glue is no longer necessary and the design possibilities are virtually unlimited, according to De Munster. "The architect has complete freedom when designing an aluminum cladding. The combination of flat aluminum panels with embedded shadow joint and tight interior corner and exterior corner solutions allow for a contemporary and minimalist design."

When Frager introduced the product in 2022, it already received a lot of positive feedback. However, improvement was still possible, according to the company. "Our aim is for facade cladding to become more than just protection from the elements. We contribute to that 'a little more' by adding extra value to Frager Facade by integrating LED lighting." 

Light that accentuates and makes one feel safe

Until now, lighting could already be placed behind the aluminum cladding. Applying holes in this then created a nice effect. "That is the first possibility. Through openings in the front plate, company logos can then be applied, for example. We now also offer the option of giving the plate behind it a different color. The lighting then really creates a sense of depth. This way you can create art on the facade. An example is an apparent wave-like movement, which on closer inspection appears to be a woman's face." 

However, there is now a second option for lighting. "We bring lighting to the outside of the facade, to illuminate it laterally. This offers aesthetic possibilities, for example to beautifully highlight the architecture, but it also increases safety. In this application, the luminaires come out of the facade as blocks. Playing with light gives fantastically good opportunities to create atmosphere and set accents."

Several architectural firms are already actively working with Frager Facade, but these projects are still in the development phase. "With Architectenbureau van Gent we have a very good cooperation, they feel outlawed in a positive way thanks to our facade system. The owners of the homes they are designing also like it completely. Frager Facade therefore offers architects design freedom, atmosphere, safety and flexibility. After all, the facade panels are also easy to replace with a different color or material."
