More than 75% of all metal roofs and facades are produced from pre-painted coils. Euramax, a Dutch premium producer of prepainted aluminum and a limited quota of steel on coil, is a key supplier to many roof and façade panel manufacturers. The only coil coater in the world, Euramax has a dedicated team that assists architects, facade builders and other clients with technical and coating advice and inspires with color. "We offer a lot of emotion at a relatively low additional cost. Moreover, aesthetics and quality often go hand in hand," says Jorrit Scheepers, Architectural Advisor at Euramax Coated Products.
Euramax has been supplying prepainted aluminum to end processors around the world for more than forty years. "Our mission is to bring color to the world, and in this we aim to make architectural projects more beautiful and colorful," says Scheepers. "The pre-painted aluminum we produce is processed at our customers' premises into roof and wall panels. In the case of aluminum, the bandwidth and freedom of form that these panels offer is enormous. Euramax therefore supplies the full spectrum, ranging from aluminum composite panels, honeycomb and other metal sandwich panels, siding cassettes, insulated sandwich panels, shingles and standing seam roofs to a whole range of individually profiled or non-individual sheets. Starting at roughly 1,000 square meters, our process is usually the most efficient method of painting."
EuramaxLab was founded in 2017 as an additional service to architects, facade builders and other clients. "Anyone who wants to add just a little more emotion to their project has come to the right place," says Scheepers. "We can step in and think along at all sorts of levels and offer extensive support. Not only in terms of aesthetics but also when it comes to quality and technique to ultimately realize the intended image. We are strongly internationally oriented and can also bring projects abroad to a successful conclusion from the Netherlands with our team of consultants. We work with local partners all over the world to give hands and feet to the development on site. And in all these years this has led to a very broad portfolio of truly unique projects of which we are justly proud."
Euramax has a huge product portfolio. "For example, our AnoMax range is the pre-painted equivalent of anodizing. This involves applying a 3-layer system consisting of a primer, basecoat and a semi-transparent Mica clearcoat. In this way, the same effect is obtained as with anodizing. A good example is the facade of the Royal Christiania Hotel in Oslo. The main advantage of AnoMax is its price and the fact that, unlike anodized products, prepainted aluminum can be processed and bent perfectly afterwards."
According to Scheepers, AnoMax is also regularly used in combination with anodizing. "At Yotel in Amsterdam, the entire facade was done in AnoMax, while the extruded profiles around the panels were anodized. Nevertheless, the result is a harmonious facade appearance."
Another runner at Euramax is EuraMica. "It is also a 3-layer system, but unlike AnoMax where we apply Mica pigments in the third layer to replicate the anodizing color, EuraMica actually plays with color for added contrast," Scheepers explains. "This is how, for example, the six different mica colors for project Kop van Kessel-Lo were created. Another wonderful EuraMica project is the Isala Diaconessenhuis in Meppel where we developed two 'signature' mica colors for the individually edged siding cassettes in consultation with the architect. Similarly, we were engaged for the facade of the Haga hospital where we were asked to develop a mica color that matched the glass. From the color of the glass, we started developing the right mica together with the architect. Not very easy, but the end result is amazing."
In response to the trend toward using natural aluminum, Euramax applies semi-transparent clearcoats directly to the aluminum. "It can be standard aluminum, but also brushed aluminum. So architects can create very vibrant facades in a brutal aluminum look. This is a very popular range in which we have now realized the most fantastic projects," says Scheepers.
"'Can't' really doesn't exist with us. We do everything we can with EuramaxLab to achieve the desired look. Just a piece of service from a premium coil coater. By making the right coating choices in the preliminary stages, you can turn almost any project into something truly special."
