Minimalist sliding doors with wood finish

New sliding doors bring together warmth, transparency and technical performance

For the first time, Glasdesign is participating in Architect@Work Amsterdam this year. The company is an exclusive partner of the Panoramah! brand, known for its minimalist sliding doors with ultra-thin profiles and large areas of glass. During the fair, a recent innovation will take center stage: the ah! Superwood series.

“Although we have visited the fair before, this is our first participation as an exhibitor,” says owner Sander Pieters. “The concept is clear and fits well with our target group. From our cooperation with Panoramah!, which has participated in Architect@Work in other countries before, we were advised to be present in Amsterdam as well. For us, this is the stage to meet architects and designers. This is where the sales funnel starts: we want to show what is possible and inspire architects to work with our solutions.”

Wood and aluminum combined

The ah! Superwood sliding door combines the mechanical strength and low maintenance requirements of aluminum with the aesthetics and thermal properties of wood. The core is based on the existing ah!38 and ah!60 series, but is finished on the outside with Superwood: a modified softwood made more durable and stable by a special structural reorganization process.

“Superwood has all the benefits of real wood, but without the traditional vulnerabilities,” Pieters explains. “The material is suitable for both indoor and outdoor use and is available in eight shades, from light oak to dark rosewood. This makes it perfectly suited to the demand for natural materials in contemporary designs.”

According to Glasdesign, the innovation is not only aesthetically interesting, but also future-oriented. With its ultra-thin profiles and the possibility of using large dimensions sill-free, Panoramah! is in line with the regulations that will apply to new construction starting in 2025, where a barrier-free transition between interior and exterior spaces will become mandatory.

Sustainable and circular

The use of wood also contributes to the circular and sustainable properties of the system. “We see a lot of interest from abroad, where Superwood has already been applied in projects,” Pieters said. “In the Netherlands we now also want to realize the first references. Architect@Work is an ideal place for this: visitors expect innovations, and that is exactly what we are showing with this product.”

In addition to the new Superwood series, Glasdesign is also showing other Panoramah!solutions. The booth is specially arranged within the compact Architect@Work format and offers visitors a broad view of the possibilities. “Panoramah! is still relatively unknown in the Netherlands, but the brand stands out with extreme transparency and minimalism combined with large dimensions,” says Pieters. “We notice that more and more architects are discovering the potential. At Architect@Work, we hope to accelerate that process.”
