Special villa in spotlight

In-lite does this not only by developing outdoor lamps but above all by inspiring people and providing diverse projects with special lighting plans.

"Since 1999, when in-lite came into existence, the company has grown significantly," said Senior Light Specialist Thijs van Zessen. "We started with lighting smaller gardens, but as LED lighting improved more and more, the possibilities grew."

This is because a much greater light output can be achieved with less energy. "Lighting a tree once required 50 watts, but with LED, 5 watts is enough. As a result, we have started doing larger and larger projects, also because more and more lighting can be connected to one transformer."

Creative lighting plans

As in-lite was allowed to light more and more high-end gardens, the in-lite LAB was born. This part of the company focuses entirely on designing creative lighting plans for every outdoor space in the world. "We are constantly looking for the coolest and most inspiring places to light," says Van Zessen.

"Over the past year we have also started to create more and more 3D lighting plans. Unlike dots of light on a drawing, this really gives an idea of how the lighting is going to be. This allows us to communicate our plans even better.

A special project of in-lite is the Wantij villa in Dordrecht. This was once the cooling water intake station for the Dordt power plant. Now, however, the building has been completely converted into a villa. The property was always in a beautiful location by the river, but the building was a kind of concrete box. A wealthy Dordrecht resident, however, transformed it into a villa, with living, working and recreational spaces spread over five floors. "We were approached by a project designer to light up the garden and the building itself," says Dr. K., who is a project manager.

Villa and stately garden highlighted

in-lite prefers to sit down as early as possible to discuss exterior lighting during the construction plans. "We can then respond to the function of the property and the planned sight lines, in this case from the kitchen and living room."

At the Wantij villa, the focus was on lighting the property itself and the stately garden with large trees.

"For the villa itself, we used ground spot Big Nero Narrow to evenly highlight the building. In addition, the ground spot Big Nero in particular, for lighting the trees. A special detail: the users themselves can choose the right angle for the lighting. With a special magnet, a motor in a spotlight is activated and the correct angle can be set. With our lighting plan, we were able to create a nice combination of atmosphere and functionality. For example, we accentuated the differences in height in the garden for safety reasons, including the steps with Evo Hyde lighting strips. By taking the sightlines into account, there is something interesting to see from every angle."
