Celebrating 85 years of Masters Architecture & Urbanism

This year marks the 85th anniversary of the Architecture and Urbanism masters at Fontys University of the Arts. We are extremely proud of all the students we have trained for the professional field through current, creative and practice-oriented projects. To celebrate this 85th anniversary a symposium for our students, alumni and interested professionals will be held in the LocHal in Tilburg on April 8 from 2:00 pm.

During this day, the following question will be the focus:

 "What's next in Architecture, Urbanism and concurrent education?"

Led by Sophie Stravens, several speakers will debate a number of stimulating propositions. Participants in the debate come from the fields of education, government, practice and work, which means that the various propositions will be examined in detail from several sides. The program will last until 5 p.m. and will be festively concluded with drinks and snacks.

• Jolijn Valk, President Branchevereniging voor Nederlandse Architectenbureaus (BNA) and co-founder and architect-director of Urban Echoes.
• Jan Jongert, co-founder of Superuse Studios. 
• Ren Yee, director of design strategies at UNStudio.
• Gert Biesta, professor of pedagogy and educational studies. (via video link)
• Bas van der Pol, Tilburg City Councilor. 
• Afke Laarakker, subject editor urban planning for 'The Architect'
• Johan Hanegraaf, co-founder of Arkio and Master Architecture & Urbanism alumnus.
• Also, several students from the Masters of Architecture & Urbanism will play a role during this afternoon.
