Easier to process, new color palette

Second-generation LiquidDesign enters the market

Whoever says Forbo Eurocol naturally thinks of leveling compounds, adhesives and primers. For about seven years, however, the company has also been producing a growing range of surface finishing products. At Architect@Work, Forbo Eurocol showed that its product LiquidDesign has been renewed and further improved.

"We are coming out with a new LiquidDesign, based on as many natural raw materials as possible," explains sales director Rob Eijgelsheim. "About five years ago, we first introduced LiquidDesign. This is the second generation, which is also easier to process."

The resilient flow flooring is quick and easy to apply and finish into one even surface. Thanks to the use of natural raw materials, this floor finish is an environmentally friendly choice.

LiquidDesign is part of the surface finishing product range that now consists of five different products. With ConcreteDesign, LiquidDesign, FloorColouring, DecoDesign and WallDesign, Forbo Eurocol offers its customers an attractive range of finishing products for floors and walls.

"These products are a successful additional leg of our business. They are very suitable for the architect. LiquidDesign is used in schools, care centers and company restaurants as well as modern home interiors, luxury stores and stylish office spaces. With the restoration of De Koepel in Haarlem, LiquidDesign was incorporated with lines. The product will also soon be applied in Tilburg's City Office."

Sleek and comfortable

Eijgelsheim explains why LiquidDesign is a popular product. "They are beautiful sleek floors, where there is no cutting loss and where you still have the comfort of an elastic floor covering. LiquidDesign is clearly distinct from existing cast floors such as PU or epoxy. This innovative flow floor is a mix of natural and renewable raw materials and is permanently resilient. For the second generation of this floor, Architect@Work was really the kickoff."

Varied color collection

When developing or improving a product, Forbo Eurocol is concerned with both practical and aesthetic properties. "The new LiquidDesign has a slightly different cork composition. It is easier to work with and is applied with a comb rather than a trowel. The new composition also provides a different color appearance. By applying color pigments, we can determine whether the cork is more or less visible. In consultation with architects, we developed a color collection. The ten most popular basic colors remained and this range was expanded by twelve modern, varied colors." At the customer level, by the way, adjustments are always possible if there is enough square footage.

Meanwhile, Forbo Eurocol has applied several new LiquidDesign trial floors. Based on these, the final touches have been added to the proverbial 'i'. At Architect@Work, all 22 new colors were on display. "At this fair we approached architects again and showed a larger group what we do and what we have. Existing relations, but also the architects who are less familiar with our surface finishing products."

In addition, Forbo Eurocol also has something to celebrate, as this year the company celebrates its 50th anniversary. The manufacturer is working hard for the future. In 2021, the production lines of the powder plant were expanded and modernized and the warehouse gained a lot of extra storage capacity. In addition, the manufacturer is making great strides when it comes to CO₂ reduction and the circular economy, with innovative developments such as bio-based floor covering and tile adhesives.
