Kingspan Light + Air has received the KOMO certificate for BRL 0105 for the BA-4 glass roof system. The certification, carried out by SKG IKOB and established in the presence of the VMRG, confirms that the system meets all requirements applicable to rooflights, skylights and glass roofs in the Netherlands. As a result, Kingspan Light + Air strengthens its position as a supplier of high-quality, reliable and demonstrably compliant daylighting solutions within the Dutch building sector.
BRL 0105 is the national assessment guideline for products intended for daylighting through the roof. The guideline lays down the assessment criteria for structural safety, fire and smoke behavior, soundproofing, water tightness, air volume flow and energy performance, among others.
Obtaining the KOMO attest means that these properties have been extensively tested and assessed by an independent, accredited certification body. This makes the attestation an important tool for quality assurers within the Quality Assurance Act (Wkb), who increasingly demand objective proof of product suitability.
During the certification process, the BA 4 system was assessed according to the determination methods in the BRL, including NEN EN 13501 1 for fire behavior, NEN 2778 for water tightness, NEN 5077 for sound insulation and NTA 8800 for energy efficiency. Burglary resistance has also been tested and meets classes RC 1, RC 2 and RC 3. This makes the BA-4 system suitable for a variety of applications in both commercial and residential construction.
In addition to technical performance, Kingspan Light + Air's internal quality system was also assessed. Among other things, process control, documentation, internal quality controls and product identification meet the requirements of the BRL. The assurance of this process ensures consistent product quality.
