Following functional requirements such as insulation value, fire and burglar resistance and wind and water tightness, our front and rear doors are subject to increasingly higher aesthetic demands. Both by architects and end users, knows Matthijs Mulckhuijse, Technical Manager at Deurenfabriek Van der Plas. "In order to achieve the desired insulation performance, solid doors - in combination with the glazing - are becoming thicker and heavier. This regularly leads to undesirable effects, for example with regard to functionality. Our ECOgarant door offers a solution for this, where functionality, safety and aesthetics go together excellently."
A door is not just a door. Deurenfabriek Van der Plas knows that like no other. The door factory from Hardinxveld-Giessendam has been developing and producing high-quality wooden exterior doors and windows for the residential market for almost 50 years. The range includes both flat doors, solid doors and changeover doors with KOMO, FSC/PEFC and (if applicable) MTCC certification. "Since 1973 we have combined craftsmanship with the latest, advanced production techniques," says Kees Huisman, director at Van der Plas and parent company BM van Houwelingen Utiliteit. "This delivers benefits in quality, style, comfort, safety and the environment."
"We supply our exterior doors and windows primarily to the carpentry industry, contractor parties and maintenance companies," says Roel Voigt, Senior Account Manager at Van der Plas. "Among other things, our fast deliveries, short lead times and flexible attitude have led to a large and loyal customer base. Both in the new construction and renovation market."
Huisman: "As an organization, we specialize in 'occupied renovation assembly.' Our digital surveying service is a telling example of this. Windows and doors are measured quickly and accurately, using sophisticated equipment." Voigt: "Because our software can also generate CNC files, there are few transfer moments. Data is processed quickly and error-free. In addition, all products are prefabricated in our factory under the best (climate) conditions, ensuring a perfect fit of all rotating facade parts." Measurement and assembly appointments are made in-house or through the housing consultant, as desired. "Because the doors are hung by an experienced team of door hangers, inconvenience to residents is kept to a minimum."
Minimal inconvenience was also a focal point in the development of the ECOgarant door, Mulckhuijse emphasizes. "What is unique about this door is that it combines the look and feel of a traditional hardwood stacking door with all the advantages of a modern, insulated version. ECOgarant is in all aspects a future-proof door solution. All door components are sourced from Europe. Also, the innovative door is very stable and not subject to shrinkage and swelling behavior, making jamming doors a thing of the past. Thanks to wind and water tightness up to wind force 12, the door is suitable for both low and high-rise construction projects. Moreover, the ECOgarant door is fully FSC and KOMO certified as standard and CO₂ footprint reducing." The composite door is constructed of Medite Tricoya cladding (durability class 1) with a high-quality insulating XPS filling. Fire-resistant cork infills are also available upon request.
The new website www.deurenfabriekvanderplas.nl allows architects and end users to view all standard models of the ECOgarant door. Customization is also possible. Mulckhuijse: "Within the ECOgarant series, architects have unprecedented design freedom: with grooves or completely flat, without or with one, two or three glass openings and in any size. The possibilities are endless, as long as the doors fall within the GND framework, with a parapet of at least 254 mm, stiles and a lintel of at least 140 mm and a door thickness of at least 54 millimeters. In addition, any desired hardware is possible."
Voigt: "Because all doors are fitted with a fixed glass rebate, the chance of open mitres or moisture leaks is minimized. This allows significant savings on maintenance. It also gives the door a much tighter appearance."
All doors are pre-painted and finished in the renovated, fully automated and excellently air-conditioned spray shop of Deurenfabriek Van der Plas. This assures customers of a sublime, uniform layer of paint and perfect drying. The doors can be supplied in any desired color.
