More possibilities through thicker wool felt. Creative with acoustics

Wool wholesaler Hollandfelt has been supplying wool products to customers around the world to improve acoustics for nearly 50 years. At Architect@Work

"We are happy to be present at this fair again," says sales director Mischa de Vries. "In the Netherlands, this is currently the only trade fair for us. At Architect@Work our customers come, architects are looking for products that contribute to fire safety and acoustics and are of course at the right place for this with us."

Playing with thickness differences

Improving acoustics is an important topic in (interior) architecture. Wool felt is naturally highly insulating and sound absorbent, making it an excellent material to use for this purpose. Hollandfelt only uses pure, fine Merino wool from Australia and South America, in order to provide a consistent and good quality.

"Until now, 10mm has been the maximum thickness of our wool felt, but this year we are introducing a 20mm thickness variant. This thickness improves acoustics even more strongly, but also offers new possibilities. Combining wool felt of different thicknesses creates more depth and variation. This allows users to come up with even more creative and playful solutions."

Natural and easy to recycle

Every year Hollandfelt adds several new colors to its already very extensive range. De Vries: "We feel and ask what is going on in the market, what is needed. For this we are in contact with both architects and upholsterers. In recent years there was a demand for somewhat harder and brighter colors, while the popularity of earth tones increased again last year. This is how shifts occur every year."

In addition to good acoustic and fire safety properties, Hollandfelt's wool felt also has the advantages of being a 100% natural product. "We deliberately use only wool, this is easy to recycle. The product can be placed directly on the wall, under tables or ceiling and on the wall. It is also often used to create hanging screens. This immediately creates an acoustic effect."

All of Hollandfelt's wool products meet the strict requirements of UNE-EN 71-2, UNE-EN 71-3 and Öko-Tex 100.
