The themes of sustainability and circular economy are characteristic of our current society. At Hydro, they don't think sustainable, but they have been doing sustainable for a long time as well. Witness to this is the new production technology Hydro CIRCAL 75R, the alloy consisting of a minimum of 75 % post-consumer recycled aluminum. This technology is also used to produce the SAPA brand's new minimalist sliding system Artline.
The Artline (XL) is produced with CIRCAL 75R technology, an alloy developed from a minimum of 75 % post-consumer recycled aluminum.
Hydro, parent company of SAPA, uses windows, doors and curtain walls from buildings that have reached the end of their useful life to manufacture new aluminum building systems that meet current and even future needs and requirements. For example, only 5 % of the energy required for primary aluminum production is consumed, and the CO2-emissions is significantly reduced. Thanks to its science-based process, Hydro has two European production facilities, in Dormagen (Germany) and Clervaux (Luxembourg) respectively, which put fragmented, sorted and processed post-consumer scrap metal from construction back into circulation. This allows for high-quality alloy with high purity. The various steps in the aluminum recycling production process are certified by the Norwegian label DNV-GL.
Soon, the SAPA brand will apply CIRCAL 75R technology, the alloy developed from a minimum of 75 % post-consumer recycled aluminum, to the Artline minimalist sliding system. This Artline is a thermally interrupted aluminum sliding system with a slim appearance at the center hook from only 26 mm. This sliding window is ideally suited for large glass (sliding) walls, whether motorized or not, up to a height of no less than 3.5 meters. The perfect interplay of glass and invisible frames ensures optimal light incidence and creates a slim and elegant appearance, even with large automated window sections. These large glass areas also result in a smooth transition between inside and outside with unrestricted views of the surroundings.
The perfect interplay of glass and invisible frames optimizes light and creates a sleek and elegant appearance, even with large even opening windows.
"The frame of the Artline with a construction depth of 125 mm is ideal for glazed sections with heights of up to 3 meters and a maximum glazing of 42 mm and a weight of up to 320 kg. The Artline XL for heights up to 3.5 meters is available with sashes up to 500 kg, on request even up to 1200 kg. This system with quadruple double runners in stainless steel or plastic has a frame depth of 150 mm and includes sashes 57 mm deep with a maximum glazing of 52 mm," indicates Perry Hermans, country manager for Hydro Building Systems Netherlands. "This XL is also available with a roller mechanism that is integrated into the bottom profile, so that no aluminum is visible at the bottom, top and side, increasing transparency to 99 %." Artline and Artline XL are synonymous with optimal thermal and acoustic insulation, and all versions guarantee excellent water and air tightness and wind resistance. At Polyclose, the Artline open corner combined with Renson's Panovista Max was a real eye-catcher.
