Quality in the elevator and on the escalator

The portfolio includes passenger and freight elevators, escalators and moving walkways, automatic doors, stair and platform elevators and service services for all these products.

As of October 2020, TK Elevator (TKE) is an independent organization and no longer part of thyssenkrupp AG. The company has stood on its own feet but will continue on the same footing, providing quality for its customers in the areas of new construction, repair, modernization and service maintenance.

Because the production facilities have remained the same, the work is still performed by the same professional and dedicated team. In Utrecht, TKE is working on the replacement of four escalators, located in a challenging outdoor environment, at the Jaarbeursplein.

Glenn Versteeg, Escalators sales manager: "The four existing escalators were installed in 2012 and caused the owner and users many problems, due to many breakdowns. Therefore, they are now being replaced. After a long and intensive tender process, TKE was awarded the contract to replace the four escalators for four new TKE Victoria escalators and to maintain the installations for 23 years."

The escalators come from an in-house plant in Hamburg. "Here, among other things, we produce heavy-duty escalators that are specially suited to deliver high performance in challenging environments. The combination of a robust escalator and performing high-quality maintenance 12 times a year ensures high availability of the installations at Jaarbeursplein. Aesthetically, the Victoria escalators can be fully customized to the customer's requirements."

A prestigious project is also underway in The Hague, the modernization of five elevator systems at De Haagse Toren also known as Het Strijkijzer. Thorough preliminary discussions were held to identify the various challenges. De Haagse Toren has 42 floors with 348 residences, catering and meeting rooms and a panoramic terrace on the 41st floor. TKE is replacing the drives, support cables, controls, variable speed drives, all electrical wiring and door operators at all five elevator systems. It is a complex project that requires professional custom project management using international engineering support. Each elevator system opens up a part of the building. It is important that residents experience as little inconvenience as possible during the execution of the work and that accessibility to the floors is maintained as much as possible. With a professional, committed, dedicated national team, TKE will execute this project.
