iF Design Award 2025 for minimalist, contemporary design

According to the jury report, the Sigma40 control plate stood out for its distinctively slim shape - only four millimeters thin - and panoramic design that exudes elegance and simplicity. The control plate is available with round or square buttons and in a wide range of high-quality finishes: from brushed stainless steel, black chrome, red gold and brass - all including easy-to-clean coating - to black matte, white matte and glass finishes in lava, white, sand gray and black. 

Jury Verdict

The jury was impressed by the way Geberit manages to combine minimalist design with high-quality use of materials and perfection down to the smallest details. Technical innovation was also explicitly praised: the ultra-thin plate required a completely new mounting system, which is robust, intuitive and tool-free to install.

"With minimalist designs, it comes down to perfection in every detail," he said. says designer Christoph Behling. "We worked intensively on refinement in finish and balance in form. The jury recognition underlines that we succeeded in this."

Technology you don't see, but you feel

To make the slim design possible, Geberit developed an innovative mounting system just two millimeters thick that, thanks to fiberglass reinforcement, is surprisingly robust. This makes the Sigma40 not only thin and elegant, but also quick and easy to install - even on existing Geberit concealed cisterns.

"What the user sees is a sleek design, what the installer experiences is thoughtful engineering," he said. Geberit said. "The Sigma40 control plate shows how, at Geberit, technology and aesthetics are inseparable."
