Anyone who chooses interior steel doors from De Rooy Steel Doors chooses characterful door designs, exclusive coatings as well as luxury door fillings in, for example, glass, wood, leather and wallpaper. But also for good and close collaborations. Both with interior builders, (interior) architects and (material) manufacturers, so that every creative idea can be converted properly and quickly into an exclusive design. "Non-standard is our standard and every door that leaves our workshop is unique," emphasizes Herriët Willemsen-De Rooy. "At De Rooy Steel Doors, we don't shy away from challenges!"
In De Rooy Steel Doors' showroom in Veenendaal, interior builders, (interior) architects and end customers can admire numerous unique door designs, coatings, door fills and setups, Willemsen-De Rooy says. "In addition, this spring we will be launching a new online configurator, in which our steel doors can be designed real-life and exactly as desired." For a better impression of the end result, the doors can also be placed in an interior. "Included in the configurator are four modern interior types, in today's look and feel. From hotel chic to a slightly tighter interior, an office interior and an alpine villa, with which we also respond to international interior trends. The configurator is continuously supplemented with new models, colors and handles, with which we continue to surprise."
"We constantly draw inspiration from the things around us," Willemsen-De Rooy emphasizes. "But also from our collaborations with (international) architects, who come up with surprising ideas for new door lines and material finishes." As an example, she mentions the use of Alphenberg leather in handles or door fills. But also the choice of patterned glass, rib glass or wood. "Recently, for example, we started inspiring collaborations with Kees Marcelis, Mariska Jagt and Linda Lagrand."
With Linea, Kees Marcelis takes the next step in door design by combining glass and wood surfaces with characteristic lines in a special way. "My designs are usually characterized by simplicity and strong lines," he says. "I am always looking for new materials and combinations, where the omission of 'fabrication' is the core idea. Regardless of whether it's a building or door." The glass in the door is often considered an afterthought, he notes, even though it usually comprises the largest surface area. "Therefore, in addition to the lines of the steel, with this door I started looking at the direction and structure of the glass surfaces. Letting go of clarity and searching for materials and shapes yielded amazing results. The use of wood with a vertical or horizontal direction turned out to be a surprising option that takes the steel door to the next level."
The Arc by Mariska Jagt also focuses on clean lines, but combined with subtle curves. This creates a perfect balance between strength and elegance. "The name The Arc is twofold," she explains. "It refers to the arc shape that plays a central role in the design, but also to the golden ratio; a principle I often rely on in my work. The clean lines are softened by an arch that meets in the middle, giving the whole thing a feminine touch." The arch in the middle and the rounded forms of the handle give the door a fine elegance. "The handle, which is on top, has a subtle curve into which materials such as leather can be incorporated. This adds an extra dimension to the design and makes The Arc suitable for almost any interior."
Balance by Linda Lagrand focuses on the play of contrast and cohesion. "Two glass doors together form one entity, with their own identity but inextricably linked by the circle that extends across both doors," she explains. "The circle is subtly shifted, while the round handle in the middle marks the shared center - the visual and symbolic heart of the composition." The design plays with asymmetry without agitation, creating a refined tension that enriches the space. "The interplay of lines acts as a gentle break in the transparent surface and invites you to pause for a moment. The design is not a statement, but a serene presence - architectural minimalism with depth."
Following on from The Arc and Linea, De Rooy Steel Doors presented a new door line in collaboration with Wonderwall Studios during living and design event The Art of Living, which uniquely combines wood and glass. And also during the upcoming Excellent fair - from November 27 to 30 in Ahoy Rotterdam - a new model will be introduced that will amaze the market. The latest model is the result of a collaboration with Daudi Concepts and will be presented in its Designer House. To be continued, no doubt...
