Behind the Central Station in 's-Hertogenbosch, construction is underway on Campus300, which consists of a new educational location for Avans University of Applied Sciences, 124 new student housing units for BrabantWonen, an underground parking garage and plenty of attention to greenery. The name Campus300 refers to the new house number 300 on the Onderwijsboulevard, which replaces the previous house number 256. The design for the green education campus was created by DP6 architecture studio, while construction company Van Wijnen Rosmalen is responsible for construction. Because of the very busy location, for example, prefabricated concrete facade elements are being used. Where aluminum window frames and curtain walls provide maximum daylighting, Warema's approximately 600 zipscreens contribute to a healthy and comfortable learning and working environment. Regardless of the position of the sun.
Warema is an authority in the field of sunlight management. Together with its specialized partners, the family business contributes to a healthy and comfortable home, work and living environment with a continuous focus on innovation, design, quality, service and maintenance. Following a wide range of shutters, blinds and awnings, Warema also supplies various screens, which provide ideal light conditions and energy savings.
"For the new educational location for Avans Hogeschool in 's-Hertogenbosch, we are supplying and installing two types of screens," says Mat Janssen, Senior Account Manager Projects at Warema Benelux Region South Netherlands. "For the curtain walls there are standard pre-fitted zipscreens, where both the casing and guides remain in sight. The bulk of our order, however, involves shaft zipscreens, whose fabric and motor are concealed invisibly in a shaft above the aluminum frames and in the prefabricated façade elements. The guides are fitted into the daylight edges on the left and right. A specific and efficient mounting solution, which ensures excellent aesthetics."
Warema's front zipscreens and shaft zipscreens are supplied and installed on behalf of construction company Van Wijnen Rosmalen. "In advance, together with the contractor and based on the specifications, we provided insight into the possible shading solutions for this project and presented them to the architect," Janssen says. "For example, DP6 architecture studio had specific requirements for the guides, which had to be quite wide and deep. Based on this, we showed various guide samples. We also showed the options in fabric colors, based on which zipscreens with a two different fabric colors were chosen."
Zipscreens (or: zipper screens) feature a half-zipper on the vertical (outer) sides, Janssen says. "This half zipper runs through a plastic liner in the aluminum guide, preventing wind from getting between the window and the screens. This prevents flapping screens. In addition, the windows are completely covered from the sun, allowing students to concentrate on their classes."
