What is good electric window control?

On the site of De Loods, halfway down Cruquiusweg in Amsterdam, the old waste shed of Remepa stood for a long time. This historic building from 1959 was recently restored to its former glory by rebuilding and reconstructing the building, preserving its industrial atmosphere and visible steel construction. The old waste warehouse has been transformed into a unique residential building with eight luxury loft apartments ranging from 140 to 200 m2 with inward-falling windows. On behalf of long-standing customer Lecot Nederland, Teleflex supplied and installed no fewer than 111 C20 electric window controls, which allow easy control of these inward-falling windows.

Teleflex, part of Railtechniek van Herwijnen Groep, advises, supplies and assembles a wide range of mechanical and electrical window remote controls for top-hung, tilt and turn windows, skylights and domes. From (double) chain openers and linear openers to rack openers, monorail systems and sliding door hardware. "Among others, our window operators are eagerly found in residential and commercial construction projects," says Jesse Verheem, Operations Manager at Teleflex. "The products are mainly supplied to hardware stores and to contractor parties. If required, we are involved in their projects right from the consulting phase. Based on the type of window, dimensions, weight and user requirements, we recommend the most suitable products for each project. Of course, we take into account the applicable requirements as well as the appearance of the building. We are also happy to take care of the installation of the systems."

Limited space

Teleflex was also involved at an early stage in project De Loods, to help think about the electric window controls. "With interior casement windows, the available space above the moving sash is particularly important," Verheem said. "In De Loods, this space was very limited. Therefore, we proposed an alternative mounting, with a different type of brackets. This won us some space and created enough room for mounting the chain opener. We sent a sample of this solution to the building contractor, who could test its suitability. A few months later, during a meeting in Amsterdam, we discussed the desired optimizations. We then delivered and assembled 111 units of C20 electric window openers, with an opening stroke of 24 centimeters, a supply voltage of 230 volts and an opening speed of 8 millimeters per second."

Favorable price-performance, compact size

The C20 electric window opener is one of the runners in Teleflex's range, due to its favorable price-performance ratio and very compact size. This makes the window opener suitable for many situations. The C20 is available in black, white and gray and also available in a tandem version. As desired, a standard opening stroke of 24 or 36 centimeters can be realized. For control, clients and residents have a choice of a simple Venetian blind switch on the wall, a radio remote control and/or Wi-Fi/app control via smartphone or tablet. "In the loft apartments of De Loods, we chose Venetian blind switches in the bedrooms, while the other interior windows can be operated using a radio remote control. With this, (operating) convenience and comfort go perfectly hand in hand."

Because Teleflex took care of both the delivery and installation of the chain openers, De Loods residents are assured of a 5-year product warranty as well as 2 years of free service and maintenance.
