Climate control with shading
The combination of indoor and outdoor blinds reduces energy consumption.

Climate control with blinds

Awnings are not only needed to keep out the sun, but also play an important role in climate control. Warema, manufacturer of shading systems, is a great advocate of this and supports professionals in this regard.

Warema specializes in ZonLichtManagement. Managing Director of Warema Nederland Roelof Roezema: "Solar shading helps to control the climate in a building. This has become increasingly important since the introduction of BENG. We have gained experience with this and can assist professionals to apply BENG 1, reducing cooling and heating. Thanks to indoor and outdoor blinds, the air conditioning can come on later in the summer and the heating can come on later in the winter."

Bringing inside to outside

One of Warema's flagship products is the Lamaxa slatted canopy. "This product plays an important role in combining indoor and outdoor living. We find that people are now investing in sun protection year-round."

The slats of minimalist designed Lamaxa L 70 can not only tilt, but also slide. "In a Dutch vacation park we install the Lamaxa 125 times. We notice that more and more people are choosing this luxury solution. It is a popular product because you combine the experience of outdoors with shelter."

In addition, Lamaxa is naturally waterproof and can be equipped with numerous extras, such as control by remote control or WMS app and Klimatronic weather-dependent control. In addition, integrated dimmable LED lighting, heat emitters, integrated zipscreens, sliding glass walls and an integrated outdoor power outlet are possible.

Warema works on many projects, each with its own challenges. "We are now working on a project on the IJ in Amsterdam: we are installing screens at a unique building that will soon be in the middle of the water. So a lot of planning is needed, to make sure the screens are installed before the water makes this impossible. Good cooperation with contractor Ballast Nedam is crucial. In addition, the facade work is partly facing forward, like a kind of pyramid between which the sun screens must be placed. This, too, is challenging." For every project, Warema wants to sit down with the architect as early as possible. "Then we can map out the requirements and see how we can achieve this. From the drawings, we create a design. We still measure this when the building is built. Logistics play an increasing role because more and more inner-city construction is taking place, with smaller building spaces. The earlier we can think along, the better."
