Shaw Contract brings Dye Lab Collection to EMEA

Shaw Contract EMEA's iconic Dye Lab collection, one of the commercial flooring manufacturer's best-selling and eye-catching carpet tile collections, is now available in stock for the UK, Europe and the Middle East.

Seven of the most popular colors from the Dye Lab palette (Cornflower, Saxon, Woad, Indidgo, Henna, Iron and Sumac), previously stocked only in the U.S., are now available at Shaw Contract's factory in Sanquhar, Scotland.

An iconic move

Stocking the high-end carpet tiles at Shaw Contract's carbon-neutral factory this side of the Atlantic greatly shortens the earlier delivery time for these beautiful carpet tiles. This offers designers, architects and specifiers a wealth of creative opportunities. For example, they can give commercial projects a luxurious look and intimacy or, on the contrary, give the spaces where we work, rest and congregate a grand appearance.

Imperfect beauty

With intensely saturated hues, softer washes and a range of neutral tones, the collection is the result of Shaw Contract's research into natural dyeing processes and pigment behavior. Inspired by natural dyes, Dye Lab mimics the color shifts that occur in naturally dyed textiles. This creates an elegant and unpredictable look, with an organic progression from lightly pigmented to intensely saturated.

Through the use of techniques such as folding, clamping and eco-bundling, Shaw Contract experimented with dyeing more than 700 yarn colors to create the collection's palette. It developed an innovative dye fusion process that produces beautiful amorphous, deconstructed patterns with unpredictable results. As a result, each carpet tile is unique in its hue and marbling.

Luxury with material health

In keeping with Shaw Contract's commitment to people and the environment, Dye Lab carpet tiles are installed with Shaw's industry-leading Cradle to Cradle Certified™ EcoWorx® backing. This is the first flooring product ever to be Cradle to Cradle Certified and requires 40% less energy in manufacturing. It comes with a lifetime warranty and contributes to carbon reduction in transportation and increases efficiency in installation techniques.

The PVC-free backing was designed and evaluated against several categories related to environmental and social responsibility. These include: material health, product circularity, clean air and climate protection, water and soil management and social justice. It is also lighter and stronger than traditional carpet tiles and Cradle to Cradle® Silver certified.

'We want it back'

At the end of their useful life, Shaw Contract promises to reclaim and recycle the carpet tiles through its own `reTURN' program.

Customers in Europe and the United Kingdom can order the collection now with a delivery time of just a few days. Four other colors from the collection (Walnut, Black Tea, Knotweed and Fustic Wood) will be in stock beginning in January 2023.
