Ideal Acoustics for Hospitality Venues

Ideal Acoustics for Hospitality Venues

A bustling restaurant thrives on sound. Guests are chatting with one another, cutlery clinks against plates, staff move between tables, and the hustle and bustle of the kitchen can be heard. That liveliness is part of the hospitality industry, but when sound spreads too much throughout a space, a cozy atmosphere can quickly turn into an uncomfortable environment.

Good acoustics therefore play an important role in the design of restaurants, cafes, bars, and other hospitality venues. By absorbing unwanted noise and reducing reverberation, the space becomes more peaceful. Conversations become easier to understand, and both guests and staff feel more comfortable, without losing the lively atmosphere.

At the same time, an acoustic solution does not have to mean compromising on interior design. Modern acoustic finishes can become virtually invisible elements of the architecture. Sonaspray®, Asona’s seamless acoustic spray finish, combines high sound absorption with a sleek appearance and can be tailored to the style and color scheme of a space.

Acoustic Comfort at Loetje

A good example of this is the long-standing partnership between Asona and Loetje, one of the best-known restaurant chains in the Netherlands. Over the years, several Loetje locations have been equipped with acoustic solutions from Asona. The latest addition to this portfolio is the location in Oegstgeest.

For this project, Asona supplied and installed 400 m² of Sonaspray® FC in Dover White, with a thickness of 20 mm. The seamless finish complements the interior while also helping to reduce reverberation and ambient noise. This preserves the restaurant’s characteristic, lively atmosphere, but in a more acoustically comfortable environment.

Acoustics as Part of the Experience

Ultimately, a great dining experience is all about the overall atmosphere. Architecture, interior design, lighting, food, and service all play a role in that. Acoustics may not be the first thing that comes to mind, but they are definitely audible and perceptible.

That’s why it’s important to incorporate acoustics into the design from the very beginning. With the right solution, a space can not only look beautiful, but also sound pleasant and feel comfortable—from the first cup of coffee to a packed house during dinner.

Asona provides acoustic solutions for a wide range of projects in the hospitality industry, including restaurants, hotels, cafes, bars, fitness centers, and wellness centers.
