Lighting solutions for offices without suspended ceilings

Luminaires for the new office environment

"The office lighting market is very interesting," says Edwin Ekamper, account manager of Performance iN Lighting. "Before, almost all offices had a standard system ceiling and lighting had to be installed in that. Now the trend is that this ceiling is disappearing more and more and we are allowed to think along about other solutions."

Performance iN Lighting specializes in lighting for professional applications. All products are developed, designed and made in the company's own factories. "Office lighting is an important branch of our offering," explains Edwin. "The light in workspaces determines people's comfort. Better visibility has a positive effect on the level of concentration. We still offer the familiar LED panels, albeit in somewhat more luxurious versions. These are in recessed or surface-mounted versions suitable for suspended ceilings. In addition, however, we offer more and more fixtures that are suitable for offices where the ceilings are
look very different."

Proper lighting with as little glare as possible

System ceilings are increasingly disappearing from office buildings. "The piping is allowed to be seen again these days. As a result, it is of course no longer possible to simply build in or attach an LED luminaire to the ceiling. We are therefore working more and more with pendant luminaires, for example from our SL series. These profiles are available in many different shapes that incorporate LED technology. The pendant luminaires guarantee correct illumination with as little glare as possible, in accordance with DIN standard EN 12464-1. For office lighting, we offer a choice of 4000 or 3000 Kelvin, but tunable white and HCL are also available in a large number of luminaires."

In addition to pendant luminaires, we also have floor lamps in the range, which provide even more targeted lighting for a workplace. "Many of our luminaires are suitable for use in combination with monitors. They offer high flexibility. Wherever you want to sit, you simply move the lamp with you. These solutions are slowly gaining popularity. We like to think with our customers about the fixtures that are most suitable for their office. Using pendant luminaires, possibly combined with floor lamps, gives the workspace a completely different look." 

Line play where only the light line stands out

For its new building, the Romein Group in Veendam wanted an industrial look and not a standard solution with suspended ceilings. This is where Performance iN Lighting knew what to do, according to Edwin. "We created a total design, which included using our SL764+ in pendant version. By painting the fixture dark, it disappears into the whole. This creates a play of lines where only the light line stands out." 

Because of the acoustics, ceiling islands were created, containing the DL Round Maxi. "These recessed downlighters are ideal for screen work and give just a different atmosphere than square LED panels." The rest of the building as well as the outdoor area were also fitted with the right lighting by Performance iN Lighting. Everything was installed by D&W Elektrotechniek from Veendam and supplied through Rexel Groningen.  

Getting to know the company was possible at Architect@Work in September and can be done at Future Lighting on November 22 and 23. "We joined the GEWISS Group at the end of last year and as of September the new comprehensive lighting portfolio of GEWISS and Performance iN Lighting will be merged. With their luminaires, we are adding a significant expansion to our available range of solutions, allowing us to cover even more different types of application areas and needs."
