Last year, the 3,000 square meters of the three existing locations at the business park were replaced by 6,000 square meters at one location, with the option of further expansion in the future. Demand from abroad also played a role in this, say Manager Office, Sales & Export Tjerk Erich and Production Director Jan Renes. "We are talking in particular about exports to Germany, but also to Austria, Switzerland, Belgium and Luxembourg. Moreover, in 2020 the first activities in Scandinavia were started up, although this is obviously still somewhat hampered by the corona pandemic."
In February 2020, the energy-neutral new building at Ploegschaar in Biddinghuizen was completed. In the period between February and May, the premises were furnished, the machines moved in and the warehouses filled. "Production is now running at full capacity," says Erich. "Because despite the corona pandemic, it remains enormously busy within our industry and our company. We have a clear plus in our production which, thanks in part to good inventory management, we are excellently able to meet. Longer delivery times from suppliers are not a problem."
Last year, not only were new premises opened, but the product range also had to be kept current. "A completely new book for retail was published, which simplifies working with our Thebalux program. In it, the new trends can also be found, such as matte black, wooden fronts, elements with brass and copper, modern handles or handle-less, round mirrors with dim lighting, new shapes of basins in tighter lines and an upgrade of the hinges and drawer systems. With, for example, also the possibility of a higher drawer, in which bottles can be better placed," Erich said.
"Within ceramics, among other things, we have very wide sinks up to 1.40 m and 1.60 m, which offer space for an extra basin and an outlet in the middle. This is the Twenty series with an Italian design. After all, ceramic is becoming increasingly important as a trend. At the same time, the program must remain well organized, both for production and for buyers at home and abroad."
Thebalux also has a very wide range of project sinks and bathroom mirrors. "We are distinctive because we do not compromise on quality, from sheet material to hinges. Our second key word is 'flexibility': we can move quickly, develop and market products."
