Eyecatcher in greenery

Alternating rhythms keep aluminum facade captivating

Those who elaborate technically sophisticated solutions want an appropriate modern look for their building. This also applied to RE-AVES in Helmond (NL). Owner Reinier Vogels bought a building a few years ago to completely strip it down and make it ready for the next twenty years (or more). Spaces were opened up, everything was tightly finished and the Linarte facade with random profiling put the crown on the work.

To catapult the company building in Helmond to the present day, RE-AVES contacted fellow townsman LXarchitects. The interior was opened up, including the use of glass. The workshops were modernized, the steel structure painted and the concrete floor coated. And the facade also underwent a transformation. "The concrete bricks of this building did not match the look the client had in mind," explains architect Bas Knapen. As an alternative, we chose aluminum combined with stucco. That provides a nice contrast and an uncommon effect. We also continued the neutral black and white color palette in the interior, where we added warmth through natural materials."

Visually immediately convinced

The architect deliberately sought varying rhythms for the new facade. A private home in the city with Linarte facade visually convinced his client. "The 3D renders and samples from Bas did give a good picture," says builder Reinier Vogels. "Still, it was a bit of a wait and see how it was going to turn out, given the large surface area. So far we are very satisfied and are getting very positive reactions. Our building is a real eye-catcher in the greenery."

Close cooperation between architect and building specialist Storax

To say that Renson partner Storax is familiar with the Linarte system is an understatement. They were happy to share those years of expertise with the architect. Storax project manager Allard van de Wielen: "We looked in advance at what rear construction was needed on the existing masonry and drew it out. We neatly solved the sharp point in the building with flashing. By going over the technical drawing together and discussing it, everyone knew exactly what to expect. We also brought our suitcase of profiles to show exactly how the product works. That's working together in trust."

Smooth execution according to plan

LXarchitects chose random profiling and determined a nice mix. Narrow, wide and edge profiles alternate, according to the architect's design. Installer Storax carried out the 78 square meters of cladding in five working days. "The smooth assembly is one of the advantages of Linarte," knows Fabian Greveling of Storax. "You have to see it as a kind of accordion with 2 millimeters of play (narrower and wider) per profile. So if there are already window frames, you can still slide in and out to still come out correctly. Ease of installation is also a strong argument in new construction, in addition to the vertical character that makes the facade easy to clean and the possibility of integrating techniques. Here, for example, cables from embedded security cameras run neatly behind the profiles."
