'We try to maximize per situation'
The energy transition goes hand in hand with measures for a better indoor climate. However, air treatment systems, heat pumps and air conditioners have to be placed somewhere. Modubar therefore continues to devise clever solutions for placing these systems out of sight and reducing their noise.
Out of sight, is out of mind. At least that is the experience of project manager Arjan Kick. "We find that psychologically it works in such a way that just seeing installations can be a nuisance. So it is very effective to get rid of them neatly." How Modubar does this is basically the same for every situation. "We work with cassettes, which can be filled in a variety of ways to customize the look. For example, by choosing coated corrugated sheets, coated plastisol sheets or galvanized standing seam sheets. Coconut tubes can be used to vegetate the outside."
So the appearance of the enclosures is chosen by the architect. "For each situation, this is different. Sometimes our customers choose a color plastisol that matches the building. It is also possible to have the galvanized parts powder coated. Here all RAL colors are possible. We recently completed a project in Helmond where a casing at ground level was given the same orange color as the building. Fixed colors are available for the cladding, but our supplier regularly comes up with trendy additions to the range."
Of course, sound insulation is also an important factor with Modubar's products. "All our systems are designed to be soundproof already. The real effect depends on the height and distance from the installation, but the panels are sound-absorbing and we mount the enclosure gap-free." The Noise-Reducer sound barrier is especially suitable for reducing noise from air conditioning units, heat pumps, air handling units and other machinery and installations, for example. These noise screens are equipped on one side with an absorbent layer of mineral wool finished with a wind cloth and a plastic PE net. The rear side of the panels is finished with a coated steel sheet. These materials allow for sound absorption of 8 to 17dB and sound insulation of 30dB. "We try to achieve the maximum for each situation and the results are generally very good," says Dr. K. K., who is a member of the team.
Modubar provides project-specific advice in every situation, as in Beuningen. "In this case, the architect decided to add cladding to our system. This really created one entity with the building." In Baarle Nassau, Modubar collaborated on the Janshove residential care complex. Arjan: "The treatment cabinets were placed outside and we put a sound barrier around this. The great thing is that we were involved in the engineering from the beginning. So the structure was included in the construction and then only the panels had to be hung between them."
