Have you as an architect or client realized a progressive project in which plastic window frames have a sustainable and architectural added value? A design in which material choice, aesthetics and innovation come together? Then this is the time to put that design in the spotlight and apply for the VKG Architecture Award 2025.
This professional award will be presented on October 30 during the climate summit GO of Duurzaam Gebouwd in the Jaarbeurs Utrecht. The award, which is now being presented for the fourteenth time, recognizes inspiring projects in which plastic window frames have been applied in a thoughtful and innovative way, in new construction or renovation, project-based or private.
Since its first presentation in 2005, the VKG Architecture Award has grown into a valuable platform for architects, clients and design teams who dare to lead the way. The honorable award shows how plastic window frames have developed in recent years into fully-fledged, versatile façade elements that fit within circular strategies, energy-efficient ambitions and aesthetically pleasing designs.
Plastic window frames are now playing an increasingly important role in sustainable and circular building projects. Thanks to their technical performance, long lifespan and suitability for reuse, they fit seamlessly with the ambitions of the future. The VKG Architecture Prize emphasizes this development, stimulates innovation within the sector and gives a podium to projects that set an example for architecture. It shows how architects make a difference by combining conscious material choices with innovative design.
The award is open to projects in which plastic window frames add substantive value to the building concept. An expert jury evaluates entries on design quality, sustainability, innovation and socially relevant improvements. The jury - consisting of Karin Dorrepaal (DOOR Architects), Merijn de Jong (Heren 5), Wietse Walinga (Duurzaam Gebouwd), Mantijn van Leeuwen (NIBE) and Albert Zegelaar (VKG) - is looking forward to innovative designs with guts and quality.
Six projects will be nominated from the entries, which will be filmed and photographed. The architects will explain their work by answering questions from the jury. The images and videos will be used to promote the project and the architecture prize, and for the
final judging.
Do you have a project to be proud of? Let it shine on the stage of the VKG Architecture Prize 2025.
