Duravit and Patricia Urquiola continue their collaboration with a powerful new design vision. The installation will be on display at the Gran Meliá Palazzo Cordusio starting April 21 and open to the public until April 24.
Duravit and Patricia Urquiola are continuing their collaboration in 2026 with an approach that places the brand in a broader, spatial-cultural context. Building on last year's installation, they show how premium bathroom design is evolving from purely functional to an immersive, atmospheric experience.
In 2025, Patricia Urquiola realized her first bathroom collection for Duravit with the Balcoon series, establishing the shared design direction. The sculptural installation Balcoon-Scapes builds on this and translates the brand philosophy of ‘Design Meets Excellence’ into an interplay of architectural clarity, craftsmanship precision and a distinct, sensuous formal language.

Designed exclusively for Duravit, Balcoon-Scapes translates the distinctive formal language of the Balcoon collection into a spatial setting. The installation abstracts round and square basic shapes, layering of materials and textures, and warm, earthy color tones into a sculptural landscape of objects. Sinks and standing toilets are disconnected from their functional context and presented as totemic elements. Two specially crafted toilets with exceptional finishes - one with a fur-like texture and one with a textured concrete layer - form a surprising and playful accent within the installation. The installation invites one to slow down and creates a lively dialogue between object, space and visitor. To this end, Urquiola designed two custom-made benches, which reflect the sculptural formal language of the limited edition stool, also designed by her: a collector's item, produced in the Duravit factory in the Black Forest and released in an edition of 26 numbered copies.
The Gran Meliá Palazzo Cordusio is a historic building in the heart of Milan, whose bathrooms are equipped with Duravit products. In this setting, the sculptural power of the installation is shown at its best. On April 21, Balcoon-Scapes will be festively opened during an evening reception for relations, partners and press, after which the installation will be freely accessible to the public until Friday, April 24.
“It is great to continue my collaboration with Duravit with Balcoon-Scapes. The installation forms an ensemble of totems in which elements from the collection are given a new, sculptural expression - from product to spatial composition,” said Patricia Urquiola.

“Patricia Urquiola stands for values that also characterize Duravit: designer precision, architectural clarity and a deep understanding of materiality. Our collaboration brings our ‘Design Meets Excellence’ philosophy to life in spatial experiences,” says Lüder Fromm, CMO of Duravit. “We are proud to once again be present at Milan Design Week and showcase what Duravit stands for: premium bathroom design in which functionality is enriched with atmosphere, emotion and timelessness.”
Parallel to the installation, Duravit is opening its showroom in Milan. Here, visitors will be introduced to the Balcoon novelties for 2026, complemented by iconic bathroom collections such as Philippe Starck's ME by Starck Hero Edition and the Collection One Design by Studio F. A. Porsche. In addition, new sink solutions will be presented, including Ocavo by Christian Werner, as well as technological innovations such as the SensoWash shower toilets.
A branded Duravit streetcar also runs in the city, while a shuttle bus connects the two locations.
