For the first time in the Netherlands, Future Facade will be organized, the leading trade event bringing together architects, engineers, facade builders and suppliers. On May 7 and 8, 2025, this premiere event will take place at Royal Jaarbeurs Utrecht, where groundbreaking solutions, innovative insights and best practices will be explored. This two-day event offers a state-of-the-art conference program in cooperation with the European Facade Network, TU Delft and TU Darmstadt. Key themes include circularity, new business models and the future of facade technology.
Leading international architects, leading academics and industry experts will come together to share their expertise on the latest trends shaping the future of facade architecture. At Future Facade, participants can look forward to inspiring discussions on sustainable and low-carbon design, adaptive facades and the next generation of materials. According to Ulrich Knaack, professor of Architectural Design at TU Delft and TU Darmstadt, who is closely involved in launching this new trade event, "Innovation is always a challenge, but without innovation there is no progress - and less fun!" He adds, "Future Facade brings together cutting-edge research and innovations from the industry and fosters the interaction needed to drive future progress." Future Facade provides a platform where vision and knowledge come together, with the goal of pushing the boundaries of facade architecture and creating a more sustainable future.
One of the most groundbreaking topics at Future Facade is facade leasing, an emerging trend in the Netherlands that can significantly impact the sustainability of building exteriors. In this innovative model, facades remain the property of the builder and are leased by building owners. This makes it easier to recycle and reuse materials and promotes circularity within the sector. Martijn Veerman, a leading facade expert from Alkondor, will discuss the benefits and challenges of this model and present the first pilot projects.
Future Facade takes place on Wednesday, May 7 and Thursday, May 8 at the Royal Jaarbeurs in Utrecht. Tickets are available through www.future-facade.com.
