An ultra-modern new construction villa, clean white plasterwork and large windows: everything for carefree and comfortable living. This is also what the owners thought when they moved in 7 years ago. Unfortunately: inside they enjoy a lot of daylight, but facing south, the large windows catch the full sun and the heat that comes with it.
While the owners had not considered fabric awnings when building their house, fearing that the large surfaces would not be able to withstand the wind, they are now reconsidering their decision. Up until now, solar control glass has not helped keep the indoor temperature bearable on hot days.
"The only problem," recalls installer and Renson Ambassador Luc Boonen, "were the narrow window profiles of the minimal windows. Of the existing fabric awnings on the market, the side guides would come out in front of the glass anyway, and that would have been a real waste for this house. With barely 2 cm of visible window profile, the "Fixscreen Minimal" with its 2 cm wide side guides was just what we needed. The pre-installed fabric awning is barely even noticeable here. For post-installation on sleek homes with "minimal windows," this is the gap in the market. Especially for large windows, since you can still cover those larger areas with a smaller fabric box."
"This new Fixscreen also represents a big step forward in terms of installation," Luc Boonen adds. "It allows us to attach the fabric box separately before mounting the guides in place. The fact that you can also (dis)assemble the new bottom bar on site saves a lot of weight when installing large screens. "According to the owners, thanks to the fabric awning, it now remains pleasant inside the house even on hot summer days. "Not to mention the great advantage that even with the screens turned down, you can still look outside," they conclude.
