Mechanical fastening solutions building envelope

Fasteners are critical to the overall quality and safety of a flat roof and of a roof and wall system. Frank van Kalkeren of Eurofast of Deurne said, "We are a manufacturer of the Eurofast brand and also a full-service technical consultancy with growing European ambitions."

When it comes to fasteners for a flat roof, Eurofast has earned its spurs. Van Kalkeren: "We have been entering the flat roof market for more than 45 years and, since the late 1990s, also the roof and wall market. We took over a Polish supplier for this in 2019 and are now certified in this as well." 

A roof and wall screw and a screw for a flat appear to be the same thing. "But, they are not. For example, if you want to fasten a sandwich panel, a metal profile or a steel plate against a steel structure, a fastener is required with different technical specifications. We help our customers in their search for a solution, allowing any building envelope to be fastened with high quality."

In the search for the right screw, Van Kalkeren says the preliminary work is essential. "We act as an enquirer and make structural calculations. For example, the number of fasteners in a plate depends not only on the plate material, but also on external factors such as the weather; if the construction is by the sea, it is more subject to wind than in the Limburg hills. The height of the structure also plays an important role. So just fixing it with a few screws is not possible. For support, we have created a catalog and posters with tables that help customers choose the right screw. If they are not in the desired color, we paint them." 

Eurofast is headquartered in Deurne. "We have sales branches in countries such as Belgium, Poland and Hungary. Our sales staff also work in England and Denmark and together we supply our fasteners to customers in a total of twenty-five European countries. That is also what makes the work so enjoyable; we are a growing team of now 120 employees and we see growth opportunities in every country all the time." 

As a manufacturer and full-service engineering firm, Eurofast supports every fastening project from start to finish. "We have our own lab where we do a lot of testing; for new materials, but also for our customers' challenges. And if more consultation is needed we invite the roofer, architect, installer or engineer. We speak clear language in a technical world."
