With awards even more focus on future of lighting

On Wednesday, November 20 and 21, the third edition of Future Lighting will take place at Next Level, Evenementenhal Gorinchem. Archicomm asked Event Director Irma de Hoon and Willem Dammers, director of exhibitor Trilux Benelux, what makes the event so successful and what we can expect in November.

"Future Lighting is truly an event and not just another trade show," begins De Hoon. "The conference program last year already stood like a house and was highly appreciated. This year we are aiming for an even higher level, where the vision of the speakers is scientifically substantiated."

The organization of this year's conference is again in the hands of NSVV, IBE-BIV and Groen Licht Vlaanderen and the theme is "Light beyond led. In addition, Easyfairs is opening the doors to a second conference hall, the Innovation Theater with solution-oriented presentations by exhibitors. "With this we expand our knowledge program even further and offer our visitors an even richer range of educational, inspiring and practical sessions. "After the previous edition, organizers received feedback that the event may live up to the Future Lighting name even more. "We took this very seriously, which is why this year, for the first time, Future of Lighting Innovation Awards will be presented. Exhibitors can submit their most progressive products or services and a professional jury will make a selection from these. The ten nominees will be given a spot on the Innovation Square, just before the entrance. On the second day of the event, we award a jury prize and a public prize."

Balance between functional and decorative lighting

As of this writing, 52 exhibitors have already signed up, more than in the same period last year. "Visitors can assume that all the big names will be represented," says De Hoon. "In addition, a number of new companies are also present, such as Fagerhult. However, we still have some room!"

Future Lighting aims for a balanced combination of functional and decorative lighting and intends to pay extra attention to smart lighting. "I think the event is successful thanks to the combination of strong exhibitors with dialogue in the lighting industry. This is where quality visitors come in, according to the participating companies. Every conversation starts at a high level, so we appeal to the right audience."

Exhibitor Trilux is very positive about Future Lighting. Dammers: "The concept stands like a house because this is not an organization that purely wants to fill a hall. So this year we will again be present with a nice stand. Thanks to our partnership with the organization, we can also think along about the course of the event. For example, in the second edition we missed the necessary large manufacturers. I think the A-brands are needed to be high-profile."

Trilux was positively surprised by the quality of the visitors last year. "Basically everyone was genuinely interested in light and had a lot of knowledge," he said. In November, Trilux will take new products that were on display during Light + Building. "They will really be available then, or a step further in the production process," he said.
