Not only is the Vermeulen family a family with several generations at the company. For example, Kees Mol is the father of production leader steel Corné Mol. He retired from the company in May after more than 48 years. "There are quite a few people working here who are related to each other. That has to do with the connection to our region, and also certainly says something about the reliability of our company and love for the product."
During his career, Kees Mol was strongly committed to cooperation in the industry. For example, he is one of the founders of the NTF (the industry association for Dutch Staircase Manufacturers). As president at the time, he co-founded several training programs, such as the basic stairmaker training program, and developed the matrix (overview of regulations stairs and railings building code).
More than 400,000 wooden and steel stairs have now been made and installed by Trappenfabriek, because the company also does the installation itself. Corné Mol explains why: "Our fitters are our company's calling card and are highly motivated to do their job well." This attitude is characteristic of the company. "From the welder, to the salesman and the fitter, we make the product together and are very proud of it."
"Whether a private individual or architect, with our expertise we would like to relieve them. Our showroom features 35 staircase arrangements and 35 staircase components in various design, material and style combinations. This makes it easier to get an idea of the possibilities. We then go into more detail with the architect and client and give advice. This is an important step, because there has to be trust in what we make." Then the client can see how the staircase is created, both through the latest techniques such as a welding robot and by hand.
The stair factory produces a wide variety of wooden and steel stairs; from the simple attic stairs to exclusive stairs, single piece or series, for residential or commercial construction. Mol: "We notice that there is more attention for stairs, it may be bigger, the staircase is regularly a business card for a company or individual and the whole thing may also cost a bit more again."
