Durable and VOC-free oil paints protect wooden kitchens in just one coat

Most kitchens are hand-applied with color and protective coatings by Robert Tediek Kitchens & Interiors using traditional methods. "Applying the Rubio Monocoat products is very simple," says Bakker. "Specific training or painting courses are not necessary. Moreover, unexpected damages can be touched up properly and neatly. Before the products are put on, the kitchen is thoroughly sanded and dedusted. Then the Oil Plus 2C oil is rubbed in with a sponge and, after some time, wiped out with a cloth. This creates a very durable protective layer, which provides long-term protection for the wood and also gives it a chic matte look."

Superior wood protection

"What is special about our Oil Plus 2C oil is the bonding," says Sjoerd Bos, Sales Manager at Rubio Monocoat Netherlands. "The oil enters into a molecular bond with the wood fibers in the wood surface, thus protecting and coloring the wood in just one layer. This avoids overlaps and deposits and gives you superior wood protection, at very low consumption. What's more, you retain the natural look and feel of the wood as well as its unique grain structure." 

Oil Plus 2C is available in 40 base colors, which can also be mixed together. From Antique Bronze to Ash Grey, Castle Brown, Dark Oak, Pine and Mahogany. "Also available are 12 accent colors, such as Midnight Indigo, Peacock Green, Touch of Gold and Pomegranate Pink. This gives architects and end users unlimited possibilities. The oil enriches the natural look of the wood, is highly ecological (VOC-free) and contains no water or solvents. With this we also guarantee the safety and health of the user and his environment."

Food Contact Compliance

"Our Oil Plus 2C has been one of the most versatile wood oils on the market for years," emphasizes Bos. "The oil can be applied to floors, furniture and stairs, for example, but is also ideally suited for countertops and other surfaces that come into contact with food. So we can say that Oil Plus 2C is Food Contact Compliance." 

What exactly does that mean? "As with the toy standard, we wanted to guarantee that Oil Plus 2C can also be used on wood that comes into contact with food. This is why independent testing institute Eurofins extensively tested our product and issued the Food Contact Compliance statement. Food Contact Compliance guarantees full compliance with the harmonized legal requirements in Europe for all food contact materials. Today, such tests are increasingly seen as a necessity, due to legal requirements or market demands."

"With this declaration, we can state that when Oil Plus 2C (A+B) is used on wood surfaces that are food safe on their own, the combination of the wood and our Oil Plus 2C is safe and thus 'Food Contact Compliant' in accordance with EC No. 1935/2004," Bos said. "So in practice, 'Food Contact Compliance' means that cutting boards, kitchen worktops, table tops, etc. treated with Oil Plus 2C 100% are safe for household use."

Maintenance and cleaning

To preserve the matte, natural beauty of wood for a long time, Bos recommends using All Natural Wood Cleaner. "This safe, durable and user-friendly soap spray cleans wooden surfaces with a coat of lacquer, oil layer or wax layer without building up a layer in the process," he says. "Like Rubio Monocoat Oil Plus 2C, All Natural Wood Cleaner is based on natural raw materials. Moreover, the soap spray is highly concentrated, so small packaging is sufficient and the ecological impact is minimal."

In addition to cleaning for dirt, Rubio Monocoat also offers products for maintenance for light wear.
