Lighting: you don't have to do it alone!

Light is the passion of SLV Netherlands. This is noticeable in the wide lighting assortment, which is available almost entirely from stock. In addition, SLV particularly wants to unburden the customer with advice and guidance, from the first drawing to delivery.

"Light is an essential part of any project," says Fréderique de Boer. She works as a lighting consultant at SLV Netherlands. "Good lighting is incredibly important, for example to be able to concentrate properly on your work. In an office, certain NEN standards apply and 500 lux is desirable, so you can't just randomly hang anything up. In a home situation, too, you can use lighting to create the desired atmosphere. Light therefore creates an atmosphere and is functional." 

De Boer gives advice on placing the right fixtures, in the right place. "Because of my experience in the sales department, I know all the fixtures and technical specifications; I incorporate that knowledge into the lighting plans."

To properly advise the customer, De Boer works closely with project manager Rob van Leeuwen. "Questions for help come to us in different ways. In addition, you can use our expertise with your own project or lighting plan." 

Cost-free service to take care of your worries

When a question comes in, De Boer and Van Leeuwen decide together what will help the questioner the most. Is remote advice sufficient, or is on-site assistance necessary? "I am the person who visits," says Van Leeuwen. "I then sit down with the interior designer or installer. During that visit, I use a checklist to get all the important data together so that Fréderique has enough information to start working on a lighting plan." 

Whether it's an indoor or outdoor project, SLV's goal is to unburden the end customer. "This is a free service. You don't have to do it alone!"

Van Leeuwen prefers to be at the customer's table as early as possible. "The earlier we can get involved, the more we can take the budget into account. The technical side is also important, the cables and connections must be present in the right places. In addition, lighting can also enhance a design. I like to be a sparring partner, and think with you about realizing the right visual effect." 

De Boer agrees wholeheartedly. "To accentuate architecture, too little is not good, but neither is too much. We like to give advice on this. The customer indicates what he/she would like, we look at what is possible and this is how we come to the advice. I make the lighting plan in the program Dialux. With this I can also generate 3D images, so that the customer gets a good impression of the final result."

It is possible to receive products as a demo. Van Leeuwen: "In some cases I go to the location with different fixtures, to show what effect you can achieve." 

Each project has its own challenges, says De Boer. "There are some standard values, but every situation is different, which also makes it fun. Private or business, indoors or outdoors. For example, a customer indicated that he wanted to install fixtures against a garage box, I then think about the right fixtures and make a selection from our large assortment to help him on his way."
