Tackling this often seems expensive and time-consuming. However, not with the application of pure wool felt from HOLLANDFELT, one of the brand names of Richard Wernekinck Wool Wholesale.
"Our pure wool felt is ideally suited for preventing annoying reverberation in rooms and improving speech intelligibility," explains director Richard Wernekinck. "In particular, buildings with a lot of glass and hard and smooth materials have a great need for this."
In these spaces, direct bonding to the wall is popular, he says. "This is because this method is simple, fast and effective, making it excellent for rooms that are already in use. The application does not cause any inconvenience. Moreover, the environment does not get contaminated. We even already sell temporary adhesives, which offer a solution in, for example, rental properties and in stores that change their collections (and appearance) regularly!"
HOLLANDFELT's wool felt concerns sustainable, pure Merino wool from mainly South America and Southern Europe. "This wool is traditionally and ecologically washed, carded, felted and dyed in Western Europe," Wernekinck said. "In our warehouse in Delft we have more than 100 colors in stock as standard. From uni-dyed colors and melange natural colors to melange dyed colors. In addition, customization is always possible."
The wool felt is available in thicknesses of 1, 2, 3, 5 and 10 mm. "The sound absorption coefficient can be as high as 0.56 αw at a thickness of 3 mm and 0.82 αw at 5 mm. At a thickness of 10 mm, the values even exceed 1, meaning that in addition to direct sound, reflected sound is also excellently absorbed."
Besides sound absorbing, pure wool felt is naturally insulating, incombustible and dirt- and moisture-resistant. The material can be easily cleaned with a vacuum cleaner, Wernekinck said.
"For difficult stains like oil, wine and lipstick, I like to refer to our website. Various cleaning tips are shared at www.hollandfelt.nl so people can enjoy their wallcoverings for as long as possible. When dismantled, we offer a 100% recycling guarantee, provided it is clear which adhesive was used. With this, we meet the sustainability ambition in many projects to the maximum."
