Now that home office recommendations are becoming more widespread and companies are bringing people back to the office, acoustic problems are also coming back into play. In open-plan offices in particular, people are diligently looking for solutions so that they can work, make phone calls and hold (online) meetings in peace. Requests for acoustic solutions are also flooding in from the hospitality industry. For both target groups HOLLANDFELT, one of the brand names of Richard Wernekinck Woolwholesale, offers a sophisticated solution in pure wool felt.
"Our pure wool felt is ideally suited to counteract annoying reverberation in rooms and to improve speech intelligibility," explains director Richard Wernekinck. "In particular, office buildings with open spaces, lots of glass and hard and smooth materials have a huge need for this. Direct bonding to the wall is popular here. Not surprisingly, because where the wool felt absorbs the higher tones in particular, the mass of the wall absorbs the lower tones. In addition, our wool felt is ideally suited for bonding to ceilings, panels and to the playfully designed concentration units that are being added in more and more open-plan offices."
HOLLANDFELT's wool felt is available in thicknesses of 1, 2, 3, 5, 10 and 20 mm. "The sound
absorption coefficient can be as high as 0.56 α at a thickness of 3 mm and 0.82 α at 5 mm," Wernekinck said. "At a thickness of 10 mm, the values even exceed 1! This means that in addition to direct sound, reflected sound is also excellently absorbed."
The 10 mm thick wool felt is particularly popular in the hospitality industry, where there is often little room to add acoustic materials. "Very thick felt at head height here prevents sound from voices from being able to reverberate."
Pure wool felt is naturally insulating, non-combustible and dirt- and moisture-resistant, he says. "The material does not contribute to the spread of bacteria and viral particles. In addition, wool felt has a stable cost price. Production and delivery problems are not an issue, which only makes the solution more attractive."
HOLLANDFELT's wool felt involves sustainable, pure Merino wool, which is washed, carded, felted and dyed in a traditional and eco-friendly manner, Wernekinck says.
"In our warehouse in Delft we have more than 100 colors in stock as standard. From uni-painted colors and mixed natural colors to mixed-painted colors. In addition, customization is always possible, which allows us to offer a suitable solution for every space."
