Good ventilation with pollen filters prevents hay fever symptoms in home

Effective filtration of nitrogen oxides, particulates and pollen

Between 800,000 and 1.5 million people in the Netherlands suffer from hay fever symptoms. This allergic reaction, also known as pollen allergy, is caused by the pollen (the pollen) from trees, grasses and herbs that is spread by the wind. Not only outside, but also in the home, hay fever symptoms can occur when pollen enters through our bodies and/or through open windows, doors or ventilation systems without (proper) filters. To enhance the living enjoyment of residents with pollen allergy, SIEGENIA offers the AEROPAC wall fan with pollen filter.

An estimated 25 to 30% of people in the Netherlands will experience hay fever symptoms at some point, learns information from the Pollen Information Service. These complaints may arise in adolescence and diminish or even disappear later in life, or people may not develop an allergy until later in life. The cause of hay fever symptoms varies among individuals, but figures show that birch pollen and grass pollen generally cause the most symptoms.

From December to October

The hay fever season often starts as early as around Christmas, when the first alder pollen is released. Moreover, the season can continue until October, when flowering ambrosia plants spread their pollen. However, the peak is between late March and late July, when birch pollen (March-April) and grass pollen (May-July) are released. The allergic reactions in hay fever can be very unpleasant. Most symptoms are related to the mucous membranes on which the pollen lands, such as the eyes, nose, mouth and airways. Sneezing, a blocked or runny nose and itchy or watery eyes are the most common complaints, which also applies to coughing, mucus formation in the throat, fatigue complaints, poor sleep, headaches and difficulty concentrating.

Indoor pollen load

Following on from outdoors, people can also experience allergy symptoms indoors. For example, when pollen is carried in our clothes and hair. But also due to opened windows, doors or ventilation systems without (proper) filters. There is currently no data on indoor pollen loads. Measuring this is also difficult, because it can vary enormously per location, building, day and type of weather. That people can experience indoor pollen allergies, however, is beyond dispute.

Pleasant living despite allergies

To optimize comfort when suffering from pollen allergies, it is advisable, for example, to wash the hair before going to bed. But also to have a ventilation system with a good pollen filter in the house, believes Jeroen Wolters, Area Sales Manager AERO at SIEGENIA Benelux. "The SIEGENIA AEROPAC was developed specifically with this in mind."

The AEROPAC is a compact and super quiet fan from SIEGENIA with convenient air performance and filtration technology. "The energy-saving wall fan provides an even and precisely tailored supply of fresh air 24/7. Even when residents are not at home," says Wolters. "With a consumption of only 5W at 60 m3/h, the AEROPAC is also very energy efficient. An LCD display with programmable timer function is provided for operation, but if required, the air flow can also be adjusted manually via the sliders on the side."

Also good against other health issues

"The AEROPAC design fan functions whisper quietly," Wolters emphasizes. "Thanks to special soundproofing measures, annoying outside noise from road traffic, aircraft and/or trains is also effectively shut out, while a specially designed filter with SIEGENIA filter technology filters out nitrogen oxides, fine dust and pollen. This makes the AEROPAC ideally suited for environments with high levels of pollen in the air, as well as environments with high emissions, such as busy cities. The Nox filter filters particulate matter out of the air, which helps to reduce respiratory complaints and heart or circulatory diseases." -

Benefits of the SIEGENIA AEROPAC:

  • Protection from pollen, valuable for residents with hay fever symptoms;
  • Protection against nitrogen dioxide, especially NO2 from automobile exhaust;
  • Protection against particulate matter (F7);
  • Can be retrofitted or replaced without difficulty;
  • Reminder for maintenance via a filter replacement indicator.
