Unique interior wooden doors in unusual shapes and sizes

Many people think of a door as a basic element of 90 by 260 cm. In Ede, however, it is proven that things can be very different. Here, Indu Doors® advises, designs and produces exclusive custom-made wooden interior doors in any shape, size, wood type and style. “When doors follow the design language of the interior, they turn into real design statements,” begins company manager Jarco Hendriksen of Indu Doors®. Those who choose wooden interior doors from Indu Doors® in this regard benefit from maximum design freedom. “The creativity of the architect and client knows no limits with us. On our own CNC machines we can realize any door shape you want. This also includes round doors, for which we are receiving more and more requests. Our projects with corner arrangements, for which we can make doors in a corner, are also special. But also our sloping door arrangements under stairs. If required, we also include the wall in the design, proving that a door is much more than a simple separation of spaces.”

Stylish double doors

For a home in The Hague, Indu Doors® designed a beautiful three-meter-high glass facade with arched oak rods and profiles. “The pivot doors in model ‘Milan’ at the entrance are framed with side and top lights, creating an exclusive and functional whole,” Hendriksen said. “The double sliding doors from the living area to the kitchen are in the same model, creating a harmonious whole, a warmth touch and a character all its own.”

Oak partition with arched sidelights 

The residents of a 1960s home in Leiden were looking for a unique partition to divide up a narrow space without losing its spaciousness. ’The situation called for a unique design, which we set to work on enthusiastically,“ Hendriksen said. ”Thanks to the round fixed sidelights on both sides, the arched and continuous rod division, the beautiful double pivot doors and the oak handles, one endless and exclusive whole was created, which stands like a work of art in the space.“

Fixed glass oak wall with patterned glass 

The round partition at the entrance to a home in Voorburg is another stunning architectural detail that is repeated in the living area. “Together with Hoogendoorn Bouw, we created a ceiling-high round partition with Canale clear glass at the staircase entrance,” Hendriksen said. 

“This reduced the see-through while preserving the light. The two connecting oak doors in model ‘Amsterdam’ were fitted with the same glass, making them one with the special and exclusive wall.” The other interior doors in the apartment were also executed in this model, so that the overall look radiates unity.

Customised oak arched doors with frame 

For the Massagehuys in Amsterdam, Indu Doors® realized two interior doors, with an arched shape and matching frame. “The logo of Het Massagehuys is incorporated into the rod division, which gives the whole thing a beautiful look,” said Hendriksen. “The first door is in clear glass, while frosted glass was chosen for the second door. The handles are made of the same oak, which creates tranquility. In short: a beautiful project in which everything is right!”

Completely in-house

“No matter how simple or complex a project is: in consultation with the architect and client, we like to determine the right shape, style, dimensions, type of wood and finish,” Hendriksen emphasizes. “We like to look at the location of the door, the structural possibilities and the fastening, which also ensures functionality. We also measure the doors ourselves, after which they are produced in-house. We use the most modern machines for this. But also of special molds, which guarantee perfect curves.”

Conscious choice

The best woods are used to produce the interior doors, including oak, mahogany, bamboo, accoya and fraké. “Because each tree is unique, each door gets its own unique, character,” Hendriksen said. “The one constant factor is high quality and durability. Wood is renewable, retains CO2 and reduces greenhouse gas emissions. In addition, our interior wooden doors are ecological and recyclable. We work with PEFC and FSC® certified wood, which comes from sustainably managed forests,” concludes Hendriksen. “We also plant a tree with every project we deliver, so that the generation after us can also enjoy a healthy and green living environment.”
