Thinner roofing membrane lowers indoor temperature

Sustainable and energy efficient roof

Spanish manufacturer Goimek was looking for a way to keep the indoor temperature of its production facility the same throughout the year. This was no easy task, given the ever-increasing outdoor temperatures. Fortunately, the company found a solution in RENOLIT ALKORPLAN roof products. An added benefit: 87 trees are being planted in the company's name.

Goimek specializes in the production of machine parts for both Spanish and international customers. A constant indoor temperature is very important here. However, roofs are often the cause of overheating of a building. Not illogical, since at the end of the day it is a large surface exposed to solar radiation all day long. The renovation of the roof of the factory in Itziar (Basque Country, Spain) with a total area of 8,700 m² was therefore necessary.

Lower temperature due to uv reflection

The manufacturer had several requirements for the roofing material. For example, it had to be an energy-saving and durable material, with a 20-year warranty. The choice fell on the 1.5 mm thick RENOLIT ALKORPLAN Smart plastic roofing membrane in Cool Grey. It is naturally waterproof, but also offers many other advantages. Communication manager BNL Ingrid Baert: "This is a thinner roofing membrane with a longer lifespan, making it more durable than any other plastic roofing membrane. After its lifetime, it is fully recyclable. In addition, the Solar Shield coating protects the surface from UV rays and reflects them. This can significantly reduce the temperature of the roof. All in all, the product is energy-saving, environmentally friendly, versatile, aesthetic, UV-resistant and therefore more durable."

One tree for every 100 m²

In cooperation with partner Treedom, a tree is planted for every 100 m² of roofing membranes sold. Through this campaign, 3,500 trees have already been planted, taking 1,138 tons of CO₂ out of the air. Thanks to Goimek's RENOLIT Smart roof, 87 trees are being planted, accounting for 30,077 kg of CO2 absorption.
