Trespa project of the months of November (2025) and January (2026)

IKC De Brink, Zwijndrecht

‘Technically this project is future-proof’

With the completion of IKC De Brink on the Roerdompstraat in Zwijndrecht, Topos has spatially translated an outspoken vision of integral education. The new child center, realized for PIT, replaces an outdated 1990s building and combines education, child care and community functions under one large umbrella roof. That powerful gesture literally and figuratively gives the building cohesion.

Central to the design is the grandstand staircase in the void: meeting place, stage and connecting element all in one. Transparency, generous daylight and a palette of wood and bamboo create a warm, inviting atmosphere. The building is designed as a movement school, with wide corridors, an indoor running track and integrated play elements. Movement is not an afterthought here, but part of everyday use.

The IKC is also future-proof technically. It meets BENG requirements and is designed according to the principles of Fresh School Class B, with a well-insulated shell, solar shading and balanced ventilation with heat recovery.

The facade appearance plays a defining role in this. A total of approximately 630 m² of Trespa facade cladding was applied: 450 m² of Trespa Pura NFC (western red cedar, PU31) for the new building and 180 m² of Trespa Meteon (western red cedar, NW31) for the renovation of the child care center. The horizontal installation by Pruyssen Roofs & Facades results in a natural-looking, low-maintenance facade concept that convincingly combines aesthetics and sustainability.

Renovation Beachfront Boutique Hotel Vlissingen

‘Colorfastness, weather resistance and low-maintenance character’

On Boulevard Bankert in Vlissingen, the Beachfront Boutique Hotel - formerly Hotel Truida - underwent a major transformation. Rebuilt in 1997, the building no longer met the requirements of today's guest. Owner Pedro Ventevogel, together with construction company Joziasse, VKP Bouw and the Vlissingen Development Group, therefore committed to a complete shell renovation within the existing volume.

The ambition: a future-proof, distinctive hotel that does justice to its unique coastal location. Topping up proved financially unfeasible, after which a thorough redevelopment was chosen with a new façade in prefab wood frame construction. On the seaside, staggered balconies provide a playful facade rhythm and a contemporary beach look. The facade is composed of stone strips in combination with Trespa Meteon® and Trespa Pura NFC®.

The choice of Trespa was well-considered. In the salty coastal climate, color fastness, weather resistance and low maintenance are crucial. Wood was discarded due to aging and maintenance; Trespa here offers a sustainable alternative with lasting aesthetic quality. The panels have been applied in front and rear facades, balconies, canopies and entrance areas and form a powerful contrast to the stone strips.

Technically, the hotel is also future-oriented: completely gas-free, equipped with heat pumps and improved insulation thanks to wood-frame construction. The renovation was tightly planned and completed in time for the hotel to reopen for the new season. The result is a contemporary beachfront hotel in which design, sustainability and Zeeland hospitality come together convincingly.
