Much attention to regulation and innovation
On Wednesday, November 20 and Thursday, November 21, the next edition of Future Lighting will take place. The knowledge program once again plays an important role in this. Archicomm spoke with Teus Koteris, NSVV member and co-responsible for the scientific conference, about the importance of the program for all lighting specialists.
The scientific conference at Future Lighting has become a household name. This is the third year this conference has been organized by the NSVV, in cooperation with sister organization IBE-BIV from Belgium and Green Light Flanders. "This close cooperation enables us to offer a varied and relevant program that brings together both Dutch and Belgian expertise," Koteris said.
This year's theme is "Light Beyond LED. The congress aims to draw attention to the quality of lighting and the new product standards involved, Koteris says. "There are many developments, also in the field of lighting control, such as the combination with (motion) sensors. Meanwhile, the technology is already going so far that you can use it to monitor the use of a building. All these developments make it important to establish ground rules and share this knowledge with the market."
Accordingly, the conference will focus on the regulations surrounding lighting. In November, the latest developments in this area will be shared. One example is the recognition regulation for emergency lighting, presented by the NVFN Association.
In addition, organizations and universities share their latest research in the field of lighting and focus on lighting training and other opportunities to gain knowledge in this sector. "The NSVV's Light Nuisance Expert Group has conducted research on the effects of colored light, such as green light on construction sites. At Future Lighting, the results will be shared."
Of course, several speakers will again speak. Richard Out's presentation will be about the role of refurbished luminaires in future lighting design. According to him, this is not always easy, and attention should be paid to both quality and aesthetics. Ronald Gronsveld will talk about safety classes in lighting fixtures. "Given the rise of low-cost LED lighting, it is crucial for manufacturers to be aware of the safety risks that certain lighting can pose, such as eye damage from improper light use," Koteris warns. Berry van Egten discusses lighting education, while Joris Rijzewijk focuses on daylight and health.
"We are proud that Future Lighting has become a leading platform for knowledge sharing and innovation in the lighting industry," concludes Koteris. "That other countries are showing interest in the combination of a congress and an expo highlights the success and importance of this event."
