For 40 years, Solarlux has been the specialist in folding and sliding walls, conservatories, garden rooms and balcony glazing that guarantee generous openings, maximum daylight penetration and a smooth transition between inside and outside. "Our glass folding and sliding walls not only reign supreme in facade openings but also come into their own inside," explains account manager André Jansen. "Thus they enable flexible use of space in all kinds of buildings, without sacrificing transparency, sense of space and light. Because the interior glass walls can be supplied with a wooden or aluminum profile and in numerous surface treatments, architects retain maximum design freedom."
Solarlux's interior glass walls have recently undergone an upgrade and are now offered under the Flexa name. The interior walls are ideally suited for separating large spaces without compromising daylight access, fine sightlines and social interaction. "In recent years we have already used a great many interior walls," says Jansen. "Both in aluminum and wood and, for example, for the designs of architect Herman Hertzberger, whose extensive body of work includes numerous school buildings and multifunctional centers. But our interior walls are also ideally suited for restaurants, hotels, offices, homes, (residential) care buildings and public buildings ... in short: for all spaces in which flexible use is desired."
Distinctive features of the Flexa folding and sliding walls are the extremely slim profiles, large glass surfaces and easy operation. But also the extensive range of finishes. "We recently updated our range with three updated models - the SL 45 Flexa, the Ecoline Flexa and the 60 HSW Flexa - creating even more design options."
The SL 45 Flexa is an overhead folding wall system with a high degree of flexibility and a wide range of opening options. Barrier-free floor rails also guarantee a barrier-free transition from one part of the room to another, Jansen said. "The SL 45 Flexa has a basic sound insulation of up to 35 dB, depending on the choice of glass and the quality of the building connections. For situations where more soundproofing is desired, we additionally offer the Ecoline Flexa. This system can achieve up to 45 dB of soundproofing and is under-floored, so the weight of the folding walls rests on the bottom rail. A sleek and flat design with 3S-Protection prevents dirt accumulation in the floor rails. In addition, tripping hazards are prevented." Currently, Ecoline Flexa is one of the narrowest profile systems on the market. "If you put two wings together, you have a sight width of only 99 mm."
For those who prefer to use separate panels, Solarlux offers the 60 HSW Flexa horizontal sliding wall. "The fact that the panels of this overhead sliding wall can move independently of each other creates even more flexibility," says Jansen. "The system can easily carry panel weights of up to 150 kg. The wings also automatically seek the correct position, which greatly simplifies operation." All folding parts can be slid into a special parking unit when opened. "Because this parking unit can be fitted perfectly into the room or out of sight in a cabinet, functionality and design go perfectly hand in hand."
Surprising corner solutions can be created with all three systems. "Crazy building shapes are therefore no problem at all," Jansen concludes. "Very pleasant for users is also that the systems are low maintenance. All the hardware is made of high-quality stainless steel, and both during and after installation, the systems can easily be readjusted horizontally and vertically, so that readjusting the building does not pose any problems for operation. If desired, electrically switchable diffused glass can also be used to ensure the desired privacy. Thus any room requirement is met."
