Retrieved from ARCHITECT@WORK, taking place September 11 and 12 in Rotterdam Ahoy, there is an extra spotlight on high-quality finishes for facades and interiors: at the many exhibitors, in the materials exhibition, in the photo exhibition, and in the lecture program that Architectenweb has put together. Speakers at the event include Dirk Somers (Superstructure) and Caro van de Venne (Nudus).
ARCHITECT@WORK is organized alternately in Amsterdam and Rotterdam. After last year's edition at the Hembrug site, ARCHITECT@WORK is now once again descending on Ahoy Rotterdam for its tenth edition there.
The theme this time is "Super Skin," which, in addition to the speaker program, is also reflected in the materials exhibition by MaterialDistrict, in the photo exhibition by Dutch Architecture Photographers (DAPh) and in the project exhibition by World-Architects.com.
But most important, of course, are the exhibitors showing their innovations in the familiar compact stands at the event. As in previous editions, two hundred exhibitors will present their novelties. This includes "super skins" from numerous exhibitors: from particularly durable facade claddings to interior finishes with exceptional performance.
On the first day of the event, on Wednesday, September 11, at 2:30 p.m., architect Dirk Somers of Bovenbouw will tell a story about his relationship to facades. He will do so using historical examples and contemporary projects.
On the second day of ARCHITECT@WORK, on Thursday, Sept. 12, architect Caro van de Venne of Nudus explains how circularity is playing an increasing role in their work. In the renovation and expansion of the Palace of Justice in The Hague, for example, the existing natural stone facade panels are being removed from the facade, processed with a water jet, and then reinstalled in a different way. The glass in the facade is also reused in the new glass for the courthouse. The firm enjoys pushing boundaries.
Other speakers at the event include landscape architect Marjan Ketner (Copijn Landscape Architects), architect Jan Nauta (Studio Nauta), architect Ron Bakker (PLP Architecture) and architect Don Murphy (VMX Architects).
ARCHITECT@WORK will take place on September 11 and 12 in Rotterdam Ahoy, both days from 10:00h to 18:00h. For more information visit www.architectatwork.nl.
ARCHITECT@WORK is organized hybrid. The lectures can also be followed via a livestream. The novelties presented can also be found online. And online appointments can be scheduled with the exhibitors. "After all, that remains the most fun," says Anne-Laure van de Ginste of ARCHITECT@WORK: "To experience it live and have a real conversation again!"
