Sleek double aluminum pivot door with side lights gives special cachet to Frits Philips Lounge

The Frits Philips Lounge at the Philips Stadium in Eindhoven has been given a completely new look and feel. Interior designer KRAGT designed an atmospheric space with a cozy bar, centrally positioned around the coffee cabinet, which clearly highlights the hospitality idea. The stylish combination of color, material and shape gives it a playful character, while a double pivot door with side lights provides an aesthetic and functional finishing touch.

The Eindhoven construction company BER Bouw En Renovatie was commissioned to realize the makeover. On behalf of this contractor, Mondana Nederland BV integrated a double interior door with a minimalist design. In doing so, the specialist in aluminum windows and doors, sliding and folding doors, skylights, curtain walls and interior doors gratefully used the system of Interior Aluminum Doors (IDA), part of Aliplast Aluminum Systems. "Our Veghel partner integrated a double pivot door with sidelights, finished in a black textured paint," says Marc Mulders, Sales Manager Netherlands at Aliplast. "The minimalist interior doors and walls combine the industrial look of steel with all the advantages of aluminum, such as a super sleek, slim and robust appearance, minimal weight and an attractive price."

High quality, attractive price

"Many clients dream of robust steel interior doors, but their cost often puts them off," Marc knows. "With the development of the IDA system, we offer a price-conscious and high-quality alternative for this. Our solution is three times lighter than steel and considerably slimmer than a wooden interior door. The system can be used for swing doors with visible or invisible hinges as well as for pivoting doors - and this for both single and double doors. In addition, it can be used for fixed walls. The aluminum interior doors catch the eye thanks to a specially designed powder coating with hammered effect, which provides an industrial look. The doors are available in a wide range of colors and textures, so they can always be adapted to the color palette of the interior. In addition, customers enjoy a standard fifteen-year warranty on the paintwork. If required, the doors can be assembled both in the workshop and on site, which also allows for larger elements."

Fire-resistant interior doors

The IDA system is illustrative of Aliplast's innovative nature. Another great example are the FR90 fire-resistant interior doors, with which the aluminum system manufacturer responds to the demand for aesthetic fire-resistant solutions. "Fire safety is an important issue in buildings, which must be taken into account right from the design phase," Marc says.

"To minimize the risk of fire or smoke spread, fire compartments are mandatory in utility projects such as offices, schools, hospitals and stores larger than 500 m2. And specific requirements for compartmentation also apply in residential buildings."

Fire compartments must ensure that in the event of a fire and for a specified period of time, fire, heat and smoke cannot spread. This creates a safe escape route for residents, employees, students and/or visitors.

"Many architects, contractors and commissioned
givers look for solutions in wood or steel, but with our aluminum profiles we can achieve the same values."

Successfully tested

In determining fire resistance class, the letter E represents the ability to block flames, while the I represents the ability to also block heat conduction (radiant heat). "With a resistance class of EI30 (30 minutes) and EI60 (60 minutes), our FR90 is ideally suited as a fire-resistant interior door," Mulders said. "The performance of the system has been successfully tested at the IFT in Rosenheim. Upon request, we can provide the reports of this."

Maximum safety and design freedom

The FR90 fire-resistant interior doors are easy to install and have a symmetrical construction with fire-resistant inserts. The system can be used for both single and double doors, turning inward or outward. In addition, numerous combinations are possible, with a fanlight, sidelight or continuous frames. "With maximum door dimensions of 2,798 mm wide x 2,818 mm high (double doors), 2,560 mm wide x 2,560 mm high (double panic doors) and 1,650 wide x 2,870 mm high (single doors), we guarantee unprecedented design freedom here as well."
