Originally from Austria, Loxone offers a Smart Home solution to fully automate a building. Which saves more than 50,000 operations annually and also energy.
Partner/coach Jason Spiers explains from Loxone's Benelux office in Belgium how the company came about. "Two Austrian childhood friends started a company in 2009 to make buildings and homes smart. Since then, the company has 600 employees and operates in 27 industries worldwide." Since 2009, Loxone had also been active in the Benelux, with its own office starting in 2015.
"There is a large number of home automation systems on the market. However, the classic solutions are still based on buttons and a collection of apps. Loxone is a solution for total automation, not just controlling lights and blinds. With us, everything happens automatically. Access control, security, climate ... we control everything from our miniserver. Users no longer need to
think about it."
Sensors are essential in any Loxone project. These ensure that everything works automatically. For comfort, a simple push button is still provided in each room. Spiers: "These sensors measure all kinds of important things like: Is there movement in the room? Are doors or windows open? How warm is it?"
"Nowadays we often have to deal with dynamic energy prices. Our system can take this into account and use generated energy at the right times. Of course, lights also turn on or off automatically and standby devices can be turned off automatically. In this way, up to 40% energy savings are possible."
Loxone Smart Home automates a building. Yet - as mentioned above - there is still a push button in every room. "This has to do with people's desire to be able to have some degree of control. Our Loxone push button has touch points to control lighting, audio and blinds. These controls can be concealed almost invisibly if desired, even in a piece of furniture."
Control is, of course, also possible via an app. In this, users can do many things
customize yourself.
According to Spiers, Loxone offers the architect the advantage of one construction solution. "They don't have to deal with this any further. Through one of our 2,500 partners, they are helped to a solution for the automation of new and existing homes."
Loxone is also an ideal solution for care homes, helping the elderly live at home longer. "Fall detection, visual or acoustic reminders, lighting that turns on when the person goes to the toilet at night, as well as temperature and air quality control. You name it ... all these things improve safety for the elderly."
Loxone is used wired (in the Tree version) or wirelessly, in the Air version. "Wiring is actually the best solution because it is the most future-proof, but if this is not possible Air offers a very good alternative. Every Loxone Smart Home solution comes with our free software. This is updated every year and includes all possible functionalities. Thus, in addition to a Smart Home system, you get a lot of extra functionalities with it. This makes the brand truly unique.
