Unique and personalized lighting solutions

Creative freedom by combining fixtures

As a loyal exhibitor of Architect@Work, Exterus was also present during the edition at Taets Art and Event Park. Here, visitors could discover the recently launched Wally luminaire, but the lighting manufacturer also introduced the new luminaire family Vela.

Designing new fixtures is a key focus for Exterus, said director and owner, Juri Vannieuwenborgh. "Because we manufacture ourselves, we can quickly convert our customers' wishes into new fixtures. In this way, we have created a range with which we can handle any project."

Well received spherical shape

The lighting manufacturer's range includes many products with a sleek tube shape and the tube. "These are a popular design choice, but the sphere shape is also a design hit and also fun to work with. A sphere with a diameter of 60mm, that stands out anyway."

Black and white are sought-after colors for the Wally fixture.

The Wally, named after a good Exterus customer, is actually a fairly small spotlight. Yet the lamp generates an output of more than 500 lumens. "By using a recessed light source and a reflector, we keep glare to a minimum (UGR19)," he says. Wally further excels in versatility. Surface mounted, recessed, pendant and mounting to the magnetic A-track-tif rail system, it is all possible. The lamp is decorative, functional and can be used in a wide range of projects."

The Wally series has been offered by Exterus since this summer. "The fixture has already been used for several projects. We are very satisfied with the response from the market. Initially, the bronze color were sold mainly, known from our Nala series. Now, however, the colors white and black are also popular."

Elegant tube Vela

Of course, Wally traveled with us to the Netherlands. At Architect@Work, however, the very latest member of the Exterus family was also on display. "The Vela is a decorative extension to the Nala range," explains Juri. "Vela consists of an elegant tube with a diameter of 40mm. At the bottom we add a Plexiglas diffuser. This creates a beautiful light distribution. Vela is available in three lengths (150, 222 and 370mm) and several stylish colors (champagne, bronze, gun metal bronze, white and black)." This model is also available in many different versions. As a pendant luminaire, as a surface-mounted version and also in a pendant version in the magnetic track system A-track-tif. "Fun and creative combinations are possible with Vela," Juri outlines.

"Play to your heart's content with the different lengths of the tubes and bring together the pendant and surface-mounted versions. The result is invariably a unique and personalized lighting solution."

Those who did not have time to come to Architect@Work, but visit Exterus' headquarters in Roeselare, will find that the company is in the midst of building.

"Three years ago we have already completed an expansion on one side, and now we are expanding further on the other side. When the works are finished, we will have doubled our surface area," Juri calculates. "It's a must to keep growing while continuing to offer our known service. We are building up a large stock so that we keep our flexibility. If a very urgent order comes in, for example for same-day delivery, we can often make that happen."
