Facade specialist with understanding of wood

Eden's facade adventure began six years gradually from the landscaping business. Managing director Jan van Gessel: "We are a family business, which has always been involved in gardening in an organic way. At the time, a customer asked us whether we could also use the wood we applied in the garden for cladding. We then started looking into this."

A search ensued for the right wood suppliers and expertise needed to recommend and sell siding. "This is how we ended up with, among others, the Techniclic system from Luxembourg. This system uses a rail and clip system, to install boards without screws."

This offer consists of seven types of wood in various widths, both horizontal and vertical. Eden also has its own click system and therefore 15 different types of wood in various widths.

The right questions for the right advice

"Our customers are mainly looking for the look that wood can offer, which is why many of them choose untreated wood, which ages naturally." However, there are also different treatment options; for example, Eden can pre-green the wood. "The advantage of this is that the graying happens evenly and it's low maintenance. There are also customers who want to keep the color, which requires more intensive maintenance and attention."

Eden positions itself as a middleman, advising the customer and providing advice for installation and maintenance. "We are a facade specialist and that has advantages over the average contractor or architect. They often don't have that extra knowledge of wood. We can ask the right questions with every project, to come to the right advice in terms of wood type and installation. This is how we ensure that the customer can see the forest among the trees again."

Wood is alive and changing. That's why Eden has a special outdoor presentation room. "Here you can see all our wood species and how they age. For example, what does the same bamboo species look like after two years?"

One option is two types of softwood improved with Kebony® technology. An injection of a biological liquid preserves the wood. This also gives the wood a beautiful dark hue. "Warmer shades of brown are again more often welcomed by our customers. In addition, a visible grain structure remains in demand."
