Architects are constantly looking for materials to give a facade a unique character. Where previously a mostly smooth and clean look was trendy, we see that a warm look is requested from the market.
"In particular, a combination of rough and smooth is going to be all the rage, both in design and in materials." So says Jan de Paepe, owner of the Belgian company ALINEL. As a specialist in facade cladding with a focus on design and functionality, De Paepe has been forward-thinking before.

"Our vertical aluminum facade cladding ALINEL already has quite a reputation within the Benelux. But because the market does not stand still, neither do we!" continues De Paepe. The latest innovation is now a reality: WOODALUX. It is, like the ALINEL system, a ventilated facade system and therefore fits perfectly with the current range.
"Yet it is different, especially in terms of material and appearance," adds De Paepe. "In the search for new materials, this has a special aesthetic. It is a rougher material with more structure that looks like brushed wood. Especially with the sublime combination of ALINEL and WOODALUX products, it creates an alternation of rough and smooth. "It is thus an answer in the architects' search for modern materials with a warm appearance."
WOODALUX comes in eight trendy shades: the sought-after black/gray tones and about four wood imitations.

WOODALUX uses a unique process in which, through co-extrusion, a composite outer core with 5% wood, is seamlessly (!) drawn around an aluminum profile. With a layer thickness of 3 mm, this can therefore take a beating, making it more resistant than a foil, for example. The sandwich bonding provides improved dimensional stability, allowing much longer lengths to be made without danger of distortion. Also, the thermal expansion coefficient of the aluminum profiles is leading with its 1mm/m; a big difference from the expansion and shrinkage of pure composite products. WOODALUX is maintenance-free, has almost no discoloration and is extremely resistant to severe weather conditions and wood decay factors such as wood rot or parasites. "All technical reasons why it is an extremely suitable outdoor product," continues De Paepe, "And, as with the other ALINEL products, ease of installation is also paramount."
Ease of installationThe well-thought-out installation system of WOODALUX makes it
system versatile. By creating fixed frame structures below and above that can be fixed very easily in the façade, installation of the system is easy. "It is a high-performance solution where placement is not an obstacle and can run with the placement of windows, doors and frames," adds De Paepe.
"WOODALUX solutions can be partially prepared in the workshop to optimize on-site installation. This, combined with the simplicity of the system, contributes to easy and fast installation on the construction site. As one has come to expect from all ALINEL systems."
Look & Feel The product is available in six different sizes, which are mutually combinable. "The application possibilities are endless: the profiles can be installed both horizontally and vertically and you can choose an almost closed look or, on the contrary, with an open line behind a black colored vapor barrier. With its brushed wood look in eight trendy shades (the sought-after black/gray shades and four wood imitations), WOODALUX guarantees a new warm design look," De Paepe concludes.
