In 2026, Trespa will continue to select a Project of the Month each month: completed projects in which architecture, material selection, and execution come together in a compelling way. The selected projects will compete for the title of Project of the Year in early 2027. In both projects, Trespa Meteon® was purposefully used to enhance the building’s architectural appeal, sustainability, and feasibility.
This issue focuses on two nominees: De Korrel Beheer in Barneveld, selected as the project of the month for February, and De Kas in Blokker, selected as the project of the month for March. These are two very different projects, but they share one clear similarity: Trespa Meteon is used in both projects® used in a targeted manner to enhance the building’s architectural appeal, sustainability, and feasibility.
DKB Foodsolutions in Barneveld, a manufacturer of breadcrumbs, breading mixes, herbs, spices, marinades, and sauces, had the opportunity to purchase the adjacent building. This created space for further growth and helped future-proof the company’s operations. The existing office building was modernized and expanded with an additional floor. Qonect Bouwadvies handled the design, permit application, work planning, and construction management. FTV Adviesburo developed the structural components, while Twins Timmerwerken was responsible for constructing the facade.
For the facade, large-format Trespa Meteon® facade panels from the Uni Colours series were chosen, finished in a blue color that matches De Korrel Beheer’s corporate identity. The goal was to create a clean, sleek facade with as few joints as possible. This required careful detailing and practical creativity during installation, as the large panel elements had to remain easy to handle. The quick delivery of the Trespa panels also played an important role, given the limited construction timeline. It is precisely the combination of a clear interpretation of the corporate identity, a sleek and contemporary facade, and the efficient collaboration among regular construction partners that makes this project a strong nominee.
In Blokker, Zeeman Vastgoed developed the De Kas apartment complex: twenty private-sector apartments in a location with a unique historical context. As early as the seventeenth century, grape greenhouses stood here, and even today, historic greenhouses can still be found in the immediate vicinity. The architectural firm TBE-ZA translated that history into a building design that references the greenhouses that have characterized the area for many years. The result is a residential building open on all sides, surrounded by water and park-like greenery, featuring spacious balconies and an entrance via a footbridge.

The choice of materials plays an important role in how the building is experienced. In the open interior space, the walls are clad with Trespa Meteon® façade panels in the China Gold decor, featuring an Oblique finish. The incidence of daylight creates reflections on the walls, giving the interior a warm and high-quality appearance. In addition, the overhangs above the glass sections are finished in Trespa Meteon® Uni Color Cream White. These overhangs help provide shade and enhance comfort in the homes. In combination with solar panels installed in each apartment, special attention was paid to sustainability and energy consumption. The complexity of the building required seamless collaboration between the client, the architect, and the contractor Kuin. That craftsmanship, together with the strong connection between history, quality of living, and use of materials, makes De Kas a well-deserved nominee.
