Premium SPC wall panels make their trade show debut

Cirveno took its first steps this year and made its debut at Architect@Work this fall. Founders Roy van Zoggel and Michelle van Grinsven are showcasing SPC wall panels and flooring systems that, thanks to their quick and clean installation via a patented click system and a wide range of designs, are ideal for both renovation and new construction projects.

Cirveno has been officially in business since July, although Van Zoggel has been working on building the company since March. The idea originated with his partner Michelle, who owns Loetino, a wholesale business specializing in ceramic tiles. Through an Italian business partner, she was introduced to SPC panels manufactured in China. Van Zoggel, who had worked in IT and consulting for over twenty years, also became enthusiastic about the material and decided to start a new company dedicated to it.

Through Cirveno, Van Zoggel focuses directly on the project market, with applications in hotels, offices, retail spaces, and residential construction, among others, and works closely with contractors, architects, and interior designers. In addition, the products are offered through Loetino via its existing retail network throughout the Netherlands.

Quick Renovation

The panels have a mineral SPC (Stone Polymer Composite) core consisting of 70 percent calcium carbonate and are water-resistant, dimensionally stable, and scratch- and impact-resistant. During renovations, they can be installed over existing flat surfaces. As a result, demolition work may not be necessary in certain situations, which reduces installation time, disruption, and waste material.

A key feature of the wall panels is the combination of a patented click system with three to six different graphics per design. The flooring even offers up to 30 graphics per design. With many decorative panels, a single image is repeated, causing, for example, the same marble vein to appear multiple times side by side. “If you place five panels side by side, you’ll see that repetition,” Van Zoggel explains. “We have three to six different graphics within a series, which creates much more natural transitions.”

The panels are available in large sizes and can be installed up to a certain radius around a corner. Cirveno is currently exploring ways to further expand these possibilities, such as for completely covering round columns.

One design, different materials

A number of designs are also available as ceramic tiles and can be combined with ceramic sinks in the same style. This gives architects the opportunity to create a cohesive material aesthetic across different elements of the interior—from the floor and walls to the sink—without having to use the same material everywhere.

Van Zoggel also wants to play a role in the implementation of a design. Cirveno can make use of existing warehouse facilities for this purpose, allowing it to keep a wide range of products in stock. “We can maintain inventory, offer a wide range of products, and as a result, contribute creative ideas and deliver flexibly.” He sees this as a particular advantage in projects where planning and a short turnaround time are important.

The first two private-sector projects using SPC panels have now been completed. In addition, Cirveno is in discussions regarding applications in sectors such as hotels, education, retail, and residential construction. In Italy, the same products are already being used more widely through the company’s Italian partner, for example in gyms and yoga studios.

The wall panels make it possible to complete renovation projects in a very short time, thereby minimizing downtime.

Meanwhile, Cirveno is also looking at the next step in the material’s life cycle. The panels are recyclable, and the company is working with its manufacturing partners to develop a system whereby used panels can eventually be taken back and reused as raw materials in the production process.

By participating in Architect@Work, Van Zoggel wanted above all to bring the material to the attention of architects and interior designers and to make new contacts. Securing immediate orders is not his primary goal. “I want to inform, inspire, and, above all, expand our network. The best part is when architects, after the trade show, think about a project and say, ”We really need to talk more about that.’”
